His attempt to warn Pennsylvanians about the influx of swarthy Germans is my favorite.

I got the impression it wasn’t his idea. Snoke admitted to being the one to link their minds, let them see what he wanted them to. It would make sense he’d pick an awkward moment to connect them.
Uh, having his shirt off wasn’t HIS idea. Snoke was connecting their minds, so SNOKE was trying to use sexy Kylo to seduce Rey. Creepier that way, isn’t it?
I mean the porgs were just there for comic relief and barely took up more than five minutes of screentime.
Big spaceships make artificial gravity.
To be somewhat fair on the Leia using the Force point, that door was left open as far back as ‘83 even without any sort of EU lore to supplement it.
“There’s more. It won’t be easy for you to hear it, but you must. If I don’t make it back, you’re the only hope for the Alliance.”
“Luke, don’t talk that way. You have a…
Yeah but he’s a meme with a hilarious voice (the kind of voice Patton once described onstage as “B Fat”). It would have been impossible to focus on any lesson he had to impart to Poe.
I mostly agree. They could’ve played Luke as a the legendary, incorruptible paragon of the Jedi reborn, but here is a character that’s changed a lot in the decades since we’ve last seen him, and is much more human as a regretful, cynical old man than an ancient master imparting wisdom.
The Force Awakens was very indebted to the idea that “this is a Star Wars movie, these are the things you do with a Star Wars movie”—bad guy with a mask that alters his voice, desert planet, etc. The Last Jedi was more willing to follow the characters down rabbit holes, even if it didn’t match how Star Wars is…
They made Luke Skywalker interesting. I love the original trilogy. I love Mark Hamill. I have read an ungodly amount of Expanded Universe stuff. And most of it, however hard it tries, can’t make Luke interesting. He’s The Hero, The Beacon of Hope, The Savior of the Galaxy, the Jediest Jedi in all of the Jedi. Even…
I thought the movie did an interesting job underlining how profoundly lonely Rey is in some ways. Her parents abandoned her, her would-be mentor is frightened of her power, the person who best understands her is a psychopathic dictator, and even Finn is fundamentally different from her. Luke was always defined by the…
the theme here is the failure of the masters and idols.
I enjoyed watching how much the formula was played around with. At times it felt like even with 2.5 hours, there still wasn’t enough time to tell the whole story.
Wait, you’re not friends with Topher Grace? How did you get in here?
The only thing I agree with here is that Episode I and II are completely useless. But starting the saga with Episode III is foolish, especially if you have never seen a Star Wars film before. Watching Episode III first would absolutely ruin the big reveal in Empire Strikes Back and make watching A New Hope a slog. It…
You blew it. “Spice mines of Kessel” is the answer we were looking for.
