I sous-vide chicken (thighs or breast) for nachos. The chicken comes out amazing, as sous-vide chicken does, and crisps a little bit in the oven too.

I think it also depends on how your social media accounts are set up. I keep both private, and I limit my instagram followers to around 50 people who are all either family or close friends. Basically instagram is the photo album for my kids. My FB is account, although private, has way more friends, so I limit what

Wait, do you frequently have parents, unprompted, telling you how old their kids are in months? If a friend asks me how old my daughter is I’m going to say 14 months, mostly out of habit because most of the time I’m giving her age it is to someone that measurement means something. If I happen to burden a friend

But I very much miss being able to hang out with them on a whim and seeing them as much as I used to.

But the months are tied to milestones, and are touch-points for parents when discussing kids and sharing stories. It’s tough to switch out of that since that is generally how age is measured among parents and those who work with kids (care-givers, doctors, etc). Honestly if you can’t sort out 18 months is a year and

  • Do you ever clean your oven? never. We’ve asked our cleaning service to do so but i’m pretty sure they are basically like lolno and I’ve never remembered to check.

“bubbler” (which is what weird freaks in Milwaukee call water fountains)

This is one of the main reasons why my wife and I most likely are stopping at 2. We were at the beach this summer, trying our hardest to relax while trying to prevent the 1 yr old from eating a lovely mixture of sand and sunscreen and the 3 year old from racing into the undertow. It’s a cruel joke we play on

We have a 26 month gap between our kids. The decision was based in part due to timing, we were in our mid thirties and my wife was concerned about complications, and in part due to our desire to have the kids be close in age.

Yes, this is my plan as well. I think the season has passed but infusing vodka with hatch chili peppers makes for the best bloddy mary’s in the world. Would live to try doing it sousvide next year.

This has proven amazingly effective for our three year-old:

My wife and I typically play to our strengths we have a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old). As the night owl, I handle any awakenings before 1AM. She handles the early morning stuff (4Am on). For the most part it has worked great, as long as we have kids sleeping through the no-mans land of 1-4AM.

Might be volume? I basically use Siraccha like ketchup, where as about 1/4 the amount of cholula seems to go the same distance from a heat standpoint, if not a little further.

Selfishly I would love to see a tougher cut of beef, like briscuit.... because I have leftover briscuit and I want to sous-vide it.

Recently switched from Siracha to Cholula, as my generic go-to source for heat, and aside from a refreshing change of pace from a flavor standpoint the add’l heat is nice too.

I’m curious to see how long the QB’s on these teams you referenced are able to keep it up. For every play that seems to counter the speed of the defense and the lack of reps / padded practice the O-line is dealing with, there’s another play where the QB ends up on their ass.

Wrangling answers out of my 3 y/o is tough. What seems to work is ‘tell me ONE thing that happened at school today?’ Because ‘How was your day’ is kind of nebulous to a pre-schooler. Narrowing the scope seems to get the ball rolling.

Grotto, on Bowdoin street I believe

Ha! I didn’t see this before I replied but aside from the NE / RI being swapped I had a very similar response.

  • What’s your favorite cream-based soup? There is a restaurant here in Boston that makes a garlic soup with black truffle and parmesan, and it is amazing. I’d love to be able to make it but honestly seeing the amount of heavy cream that must go into this, and god knows what else, would probably spoil it for me.
