I definitely agree to an extent. From a purely tracking standpoint I like the idea of having a separate, dedicated amount set aside for my kids in a 529, and I imagine the growth strategies of my 401K, set to retirement in 30+ years, vs a 529, set to college age within 18 years, is different.

Pretty sure you can’t contribute to a Roth IRA at all if you make more than like 180K combined if filing jointly so it’s not an option for everyone.

Nothing wrong with the classic kid stuff, we intermingle that with disney movie songs and our own music. There is very much that’s wrong with Kids versions of adult hits. Kidzbop is the music they play in the waiting room to hell.

The one rule I’ve had with music and our kids was absolutely no kidzbop or any watered down version of adult music. We’ve had success with creating family play-lists, combining playlists of my kids Moana and Frozen songs with the music my wife and I enjoy. It’s worked great, and to the point where our kids are into

How big of a risk is hacking / tampering really? I’d heard of a couple stories but it never occurred to me when buying a baby monitor. And after three years, with two different models that I’m sure are not hack proof, we’ve had zero issues. We went with low-end summer infant models, which are kinda shitty in terms

I do exactly this. But I’m wondering if maybe I’m just not that discerning about my rice? The method described in the post is worth a try I think.

This is the correct take.

LaCroix is trash seltzer for trash people but should only be taxed when it is purchased in lieu of Polar seltzer.

It is odd, but definitely a thing. I’ve put my hand out to women closer to my parents age in a social / non work setting and have gotten these looks like, ‘Oh, i guess we’re doing this now?’

Thats super helpful because outside of a work / professional setting I find myself hesitating.

I was taught in my WASPy new england upbringing that you don’t shake a woman’s hand unless she offers it first. I completely ignore that in a professional when it comes to introductions - but absolutely still follow that convention with my parents generation.

Should I have not taken the TV then? *gulp*

Eric’s submission might be one of my favorite ‘Hear it from the fans’ sections over the years. Great story, and the kicker at the end about only being in rural PA due to post 9/11 hysteria is well placed.

Us too, especially the second time around. The size NB diapers are so small and only good for so long - it helps not having to buy them and then all of a sudden it’s blowout city and you have to go out and buy the size 1's and 2's.

Not sure how weird they are but something we got as a gift that I never expected to be as useful as they are would be our flexible cutting boards:

My wife on advice from friends brought and entire bag with no purpose other than pillaging this kind of loot. They also hand out diapers, wipes and several other things - if you catch a shift change at the right time you can even stash a whole package of diapers and request more. With our first kid I felt kind of

Are they opening up a new one in RI?

Same, 99% of the time. Once in a rare while I’ll have it, where the meat sauce isn’t too sweet, the noodles aren’t over-cooked, they use bachemel instead of ricotta, and the top layer is perfectly crisp.

Pork Loin! I know it’s just another protein but would really like to see best practices on how to brown it afterwords, temp, seasoning etc...

This is great advice. I had a right out of college direct report on my team who just could not show up on time in the morning. It was infuriating, and he would frequently roll into morning department meetings 10-15 minutes late. It was always something, the train, construction, the elevator (yes really). Nothing
