It seems to me like it would be too easy to switch the vehicle into the wrong gear (think drive to reverse) by inadvertently turning the knob. There has to be some brake pedal lockout to go from Drive to Reverse.
The Plymouth Prowlers had their instrument clusters in the center also.

18. Gas fillers are tricky. We see the cutout, but they're well blended into the body shape, so we're supposed to ignore them. Still, I feel like I'd rather see an obvious fuel filler that didn't need to be hidden. There's nothing to be ashamed of — why are we still hiding these?
