I think body positivity is less about delusion and more about kindness and acceptance - of yourself and others. Most overweight people carry enough self-loathing with them. Society piling on isn’t really helping anyone.
Next up: 37 AV Club lists that made us go: “Sure, that’s a list.”
One of my favorite performances is Rosamund Pike in Massive Attacks’s Voodoo in My Blood:
I’m also crossing my fingers when it comes to Mitch McConnell’s declining health.
Yup. The secret to love and successful relationships is to find the objectively hottest person. That’s all there is to it.
It’s funny to me that the two most biggest recent blockbusters feature people whose faces creep me out a little. Both Cillian Murphy and Margot Robbie have features that put them in the uncanny valley for me. That being said, they’re both terrific actors and I can still enjoy their performances.
Fuck, I’m sorry to hear that. Still, there is always someone who will listen. Also, lots of resources on the internet that are available from anywhere.
Obviously not sure yet if it applies to this story, but still: If you have thoughts of suicide or self-harm, don’t act on them. No matter what country you’re in, there is free help available and things will get better. I’ve been close one or two times myself and am glad I didn’t do it.
A biology teacher once told us the surest way to go is to take a mouthful of water and shoot yourself in the mouth. According to him, the pressure would make sure you’ll die. I have no clue if that is accurate. And yes, don’t attempt suicide in general. There is always a way out.
Me: *reads headline* “But the 90s didn’t even have 36 years!” My brain truly is working at peak capacity today.
Lol, could you imagine if they made a movie based on Battleship? ... What was that? ... You gotta be kidding me!
I feel like the first draft of this article included the sentence “To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Oppenheimer.”
Huh? Why would they make a biopic about a fictional person? And how do you explain the personal anecdotes in my replies?
Surprised to not see Tár on this list. I loved that it was rather brutal in displaying Lydia Tár’s faults and shortcomings. It could have easily veered into hagiography, considering how revered she is in real life.
To be fair, it’s hard to find a place in Tennessee where a black person wasn’t lynched.
Reminds me of this Key & Peele classic:
Didn’t know there was a superhero called The 3.5" Floppy.
Wait, even if these photos were real... what was I supposed to be outraged about again?
Yeah, I can agree with you on that one. My point still stands in a general sense.
