Glad I experienced Burning Man pre-corporate bum rush. The event was ever-evolving but the catered camps, celebrities (not just participating but working their brand) and over-saturation with social media have forever altered the experience. It’s a real shame. The 3 times I went showed a unique, diverse and accepting

Wait, there are states that don't have mosquitoes? Floridian asking.

My dad was a huge Gene Wilder fan. He was always quoting Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles. He passed away about a year and a half ago from dementia, so this news was particularly tough.

It pretty much the MOST respectful protest he could have made. Why are the “blah blah blah died for our freedoms” people not realizing that this is one of those freedoms?!

It’s like pog-collecting. Nobody cares about your Bill & Ted slammer, you fucks.

True Americans always stand for the anthem of the country they plan to overthrow via the second amendment.

“to me that’s the National Anthem we stand and support because they give us the freedom to play this game. We are so, so lucky to play a game that we love...and that’s because we have the freedom that soldiers have given us.”

Couldn’t agree more. The American flag and national anthem stands for all those people who died at Normandy or Tripoli so that Ben Roethlisberger could play football.

This so much. Gene Wilder movies are a connection with my Dad who passed 10 years ago. He took great delight in introducing me to them & we’d often quote silly lines back & forth to each other.

Same. I grew up watching Mel Brooks movies with my dad, who died when I was a teenager. I pull out my DVD of Blazing Saddles when I’m missing my dad extra hard.

+1 (sorry, can’t star on my desktop)

I first saw Willy Wonka as a child. I loved that movie so much. But it wasn’t until I watched it again as an adult that I realized the pure genius of Wilder’s Wonka, and the nuances get better every time I see it. His Wonka makes the movie, and gives it the depth that makes it worth rewatching.

My wife told me that she ran into him in an art supply store in Connecticut when she was in college and chatted a bit. She said he was genuinely delightful to speak with.

His best work was playing off of Richard Pryor. They both brought deep nuance to their comedic characters, be it anger, fragility, or just fucking insanity.

Well. Now I need a tissue. That statement from the obituary—damn.

My senior portrait I had the typical over-plucked, arched eyebrows and fashioned my hair after Aaliyah. It did not work out how I wanted to.

“I don’t see a problem.”

Agreed. Also, fantastic name.
