I kind of agree. Before the nineties Back in Europe BMWs, Mercs and Audis (to a lesser degree) were seen as premium and a status symbol. People given company car cash always chose a Ford Mondeo or a Vauxhall Vectra. Then the Germans caught on and started selling slow and poorly specced 3-Series and C-Classes and those

Do mechanics still use the phrase ‘retarded ignition timing’? I haven’t heard it in a while and wondered if someone has come up with an alternative so as not to have customers get the idea that you were not being very PC.

Being a big fan of the original Mini, when the original SMART Coupe came out I thought it would make a great spiritual successor, especially in terms of maximising interior space. I even liked the looks. However, it turned out to be the worst car I have ever driven to this day from the steering to the transmission,

I wish they called this the new Discovery or something and not pretend it is anything like the original. However, I guess this had to happen as unless there was some armies, farmers or utility companies lining up for a basic, rugged indestructible tractor for the road then there really is no market for something like

First world companies are also being buoyed by potential lithium extraction. The UK is actively supporting it in Cornwall: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lithium-boom-comes-to-cornwall-m2ccf0p26

My VehiCross is a JDM import and weirdly, although it has the 4WD TOD system, the default on the stubby shifter is RWD (2WD). You have to manually shift it into 4WD if you need it.

I honestly can’t believe you wrote this article and did not mention whippletrees. I mean, how often do you get to use such a fantastic word?

Here in Calgary the local police provide locations in some of their station parking lots where you can meet to buy or sell anything online.

I agree with most of this article but does achieving level 5 have to be 100% full-proof?

To be clear, I hate what has been done to this example, but I think the price is absolutely fair. A few years ago I searched for an S2000 and the only ones in my price range were modded ones and that’s not for me.

You’re totally right but it’s such a shame. The truly great cars have usually been the vision of one person.

Dull as dishwater.

I took my car into the shop the other day and they were kind enough to loan me a curtsey car.

I know a better battery always seems to be a year away but beyond the milestone you mention once you get range levels BEYOND a typical ICE car it may also minimise the need for so many chargers. If you got to say the 800+ range you’re now limited by how long the driver can stay charged.

I love Smokey and The Bandit but to an extent I agree. He had so much potential to start with Deliverance and the Longest Yard but after SATB, you’re right it became Burt in film X rather than Burt ‘acting’ as a different character. The Bandit and his role in Cannonball Run are pretty much interchangeable.

Rover went through all of that with cars like the 800 (sterling):

I hate the Allegro with a passion but weirdly I find the Vanden Plas better looking. What is more heinous is what Riley did to the Mini:

I agree, there could have been a story arc were slowly the hosts managed to replace key folks one by one and there was this are they/aren’t they play.

The Rav4 looks a bit depressing. Like you want a Urus and are ashamed of the Rav4 but made an awful compromise that does little for either problem.

The weird Lotus/Bugatti tie in still kind of lives on. The Lotus Elise was named after Elisa Artioli, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli from when he owned the company.
