This is interesting financially as well. Part of why Discovery survived the past few years was because Netflix paid so much money for the show that it completely paid for production. Now it needs to make enough money to be financially viable.

They’ve f’ed up every other part of the story. Why stop now?
Don’t forget that it is also established (in Foundation and Earth and Forward the Foundation) that Daneel’s life is coming to an end, the amount of time he can stay in a positronic brain is getting shorter and shorter before he needs to make a new one. Part of why he wanted to facilitate Psychohistory was because he…
I know it’s a minority opinion, but I actually think Foundation’s Edge is an excellent part of the Foundation series. Everything after that (including the prequels)...not so much.
I’ve actually tried to get my teenage boys to watch a lot of old movies and tv. Almost none of it holds up. Only the very very best. I will say, as a point of reference, the single best 80's movie that held their attention was The Thing.
I’ve never watched it, but just from that promo...My god, does that Chucky show look terrible.
Doesn’t “run over” imply intent to harm? The earlier case with the 16 year old was pretty obviously a case of reckless endangerment where he tried to drive past them as closely as possible, and then hit them. But this incident, particularly with a 66 year old driver, could very well be a terrible accident. I’m not…
I haven’t read the comic, but the show is just filled with lazy lazy writing. It simply did not deserve to get renewed.
It’s just male mammals.
Honest, the whole show is an travesty for anyone that is a fan of the books.
I’ve worked with the Tolkien estate in some video game stuff and Tolkien’s son was a royal pain, but I have to admit, he NEVER would have let something like this happen with his father’s writing. Robyn Asimov should be absolutely ashamed of herself.
I too am a fanatic about the books (I’ve read each one more than a dozen times over the past 30 years). There have already been a lot of cases where they have completely broken “rules” set down by the books. Another example is the Emperor’s personal force shield - it totally wrecks a huge plot point about how The…
A) That happens much latter in the books
B) While that ship is very powerful compared to the ships out in the Rim (where the Foundation is), it is just a run of the mill Empire battleship. The whole point is that the Empire, while contracting, is still vastly more powerful than anyone out on the Rim. The whole point of…
Honestly, it is explained well in the books, if you pay attention. Asimov was many things, but above all, he was incredibly smart. If you let him have his one conceit (that Psychohistory is possible at all), his sociological reasoning for the fall of the empire and the loss of technology are actually very well thought…
I’ve read a little about the production of the show and I haven’t heard that. Do you have link?
Because Facebook isn’t really about Facebook anymore. Facebook is mostly growing outside the US. Facebook’s US future for the past several years in the US and Europe has been Instagram.
My thoughts exactly. Nothing should be allowed on the list that is currently in production, let alone 2 seasons!
It’s almost like three different shows with the same characters. I secretly think the behind the scenes HBO was like, “This is cancelled!” and then the writer was like, “Just let be retool it next season.” HBO let it slide twice.
That was great!
As an adaption it is absolutely terrible. It is breaking all kinds of “rules” from the books that are going to make the adaptions of the second book nearly impossible (for example, the entire personal force field technology goes counter to the ENTIRE path that the Foundation was set on by Seldon - a hugely important…
