I know some people like Tilly, but at this point I find her schtick more annoying than Wesley.

This is actually my main concern. The show already has a massive problem with how much it focuses on Burnham. Tyler is irredeemable now, Lorca and spore-guy are probably going to die in the end. Is next season just going to be Burnham with a new cast of disposables?

I definitely hope so, but will they spend the money to hire her again?

Did you see the preview on the after trek show? They have a secure channel, and when Tilly talks to Burnham, SHE DOESN’T EVEN MENTION IT!

This poor woman doesn’t realize that she and her family are going to be pariahs in every social circle she ever cared about for the rest of her life. I guess she can go eat dinner with Hannity in New York (as long as they don’t mind people spitting in their food).

I thought the consensus was that “Hang the DJ” was the best one (It’s my personal favorite as well - although the Black and White episode was a tight, super well crafted bit of action horror).

It’s okay, but it’s pretty obviously cobbled together from three (four?) stories that they didn’t think could merit a full episode. It’s actually a clever writing trick to fully use the catalogue of stories you’ve developed.

I’m starring this whole thread!

I feel like the American version of Le Femme Nikita went with this angle. She was a good fighter, but in the end, especially when she meets the cleaner, it’s obvious that she is seriously outclassed.

Look, I think we are going to have to agree to disagree, but I will just say this. Kirk is a Captain of one the 12 flagships in the fleet at the time, whose primary goal is exploration and dealing with the unknown. He is specifically given a lot of autonomy. He was a decorated officer prior to that and an instructor

I know people like to defend Burnham, but come on, these two things are completely different situations and that should be obvious.

I swear those guys in the armor have machine guns.

ST III was not great, but it did have the destruction of the enterprise. Which was a big f’ing deal.

Wrath of Kahn is a very good movie. If you are someone who grew up and knew the TOS characters very well (as a kid I grew up watching syndicated TOS after school every day for years), it was an earth shattered character piece about dealing with defeat, choices and mortality. There aren’t a lot of people that movie was

Wow. Not promoted on Netflix UK AT ALL. Not even part of the front page list of show. Not a good sign.

The face covering prosthetic are a huge huge technical mistake. It makes everything a thousand times harder.

Well, that’s not exactly what he said. The Vulcans started shooting first after many encounters with the Klingons and even then only if the Klingons interacted with them in a threatening way.

She disobeyed and assaulted her captain after a 30 second conversation (both with Sarek and with her Captain). I don’t care if Q told her. Not acceptable. Character destroying writing in the first hour of the show.

I think everyone agrees that having a human raised by Vulcans reintegrating with a mostly human crew is a great idea. Some people just have problems with Sarek being the father because it’s too “small universe” and it blows a real hole in cannon.

Was he even an asshole? I feel like ti was just a bad circumstances of a crew suddenly getting a new captain unexpectantly and an older captain set in his ways. I’m sure given a few months they would have figured out how to work with each other, it was just a rough start.
