I think the correct answer is to say, “We’re going to write a show with the hope and optimism of Trek, but starting from scratch, with an underpinning of today society, science and science fiction. Things are going to go in a different direction, but the main star - a hopeful, brave, united and competent humanity will

Yes, I been saying the same thing for a while. The major threats to the galaxy are all known post Nemesis. And if the alliance with the changlings hold your talking about a group that encompasses more than a majority of the galaxy. Hard to come up with a explaination for a threat that they wouldn’t have already seen.

While is was about money, I don’t thin your correct. I believe Fuller wanted to substantially INCREASE the cost per episode and Starz was not willing to do it. (Which I think was the right move, the cost was already huge).

Since the federation numbers in the hundreds of billions and there are only a few hundred Star ships in Star Fleet AND they’ve reached a point of technology and education that they are picking the very best of the population for Star Fleet - You’re damn right I expect them to be absolute cream of the crop. Even the

You know what would be really funny? A show with a dysfunctional crew that had to pretend to be as competent as the rest of Star Fleet whenever they were not completely on their own. That would generate some laughs.

Welcome to being older than 35!

Hate both, but for a show with ~200 hours of content to have a couple of clever moments is not a great batting average.

It would be about 37 times better if Seth wasn’t in it. His constant mugging and bad acting really damages the show. That’s my number one complaint.

This entire article and conversation is about the US, feel free to suggest Hamilton writes another article if you want to talk about world redistribution. I was simply humoring you (of course $17k would be life changing for a third world person).

I wish you could just buy it on google play. That would make me feel clean about it (and yes I understand that’s more expensive than jumping through a bunch of hoops and streaming it for free).

Unfortunately, where I live there are no more houses that cost $250K (that was my point - you’d have to live far outside of the city for even a small house today on $75K - I’m starting to think even a condo is getting out of reach for that kind of salary - which is terrible).

I understand, I guess I should have said, that while I think speculative real-estate drives up the price of very high-end, I don’t think it’s real factor for “normal” home ownership (Vancouver might be the one exception - so many foreign people were parking money there in the form of housing that it does/did get down

It’s fine, WE ALL DO IT :)

I agree, a semester of poker after Geometry but before pre-calc would be best for all kids!

I agree, but at least 50% of the trucking is just rolling down the interstate (or even easier - moving items around ports). And all of those out of work people are going to massively depress wages once they start scrambling for the “hard” driving jobs that are left.

Sid Meier gave a great talk on this once where he basically said if the real odds aren’t much better than the odds you tell the player then they get pissed AND think the game is cheating. “If you say 80% chance of hitting - it better really be 95%!”

I think they are at the point where I would not feel bad wearing them for work in the office. Or in my house playing a game.

MagicLeap state are actively working on putting prescription lenses in the headset in the near future.

I think the big change is going to be one of two things (not counting complete economic collapse):

I’m guessing that you don’t actually live in the city, but outside the city (and probably quite a bit outside). Because I live in an expensive city (not the most by far) and buying (or renting) even a modest house in the city would be close to impossible on 75k. 75K = a mortgage of $1,750 a month (if renting you
