Regular people lose jobs all the time. Facebook laid off 11,000 people because Meta’s attempts at whatever the hell they were doing was met with a resounding meh at best, to derision at worst, from everyone. I remember seeing not a single soul arguing that people should go out and buy Oculus headsets and use their

I have children. The choice of which media enters my home is certainly an adult decision.

You accused me of putting my head in the sand. I explained why that was a stupid claim. That is it. I’m not sure why you felt the need to tag on all the extra baggage to this particular point.

I’m recognizing, but not accepting, the opposing position for all the reasons I’ve outlined that you haven’t actually undermined

The story is the bigger issue though, like what the hell. Why am I mowing down sentient, intelligent creatures that want equal rights?

That is the claim. There is no real way to be sure until someone has actually played the game.

Ah yes, the implication that people that don’t want to buy the game are not acting like adults. You sound like a fucking tool, you realize that right?

Yes, but if you are aware of exactly who the person you’re making richer is someone you find reprehensible, then sticking your head in the sand is certainly a choice, but not one people have to make.

Yeah, virtually everything you buy makes someone unsavory richer. The fact that we’re paying with our personal info doesn’t make it any less real that our time on this site not doubt enriches a bunch of terrible people.

Your choice to purchase, or not to purchase, this game has absolutely no impact on Rowling. None. If you looked up “fuck you money” in the dictionary you’d probably find her face smiling back at you.

Are the analog modules (inside controller, usually soldered to a board) hot-swappable? I don’t see that in the descriptions anywhere. They mention the “stick caps”, which are not the actual modules.

If it has standard pot-modules then it shouldn’t be worth the asking price for anyone.

... but do they have Hall Effect analog sticks?

Stick drift is the only critical failure I’ve experienced on a gamepad (that wasn’t a direct result of my own stupidity) so I would gladly pay a premium for a first-party one that can’t suffer this failure.

I haven’t played “As Dusk Falls” so I don’t have any personal experience to offer, but it objectively has a ton of very good reviews.

1The outputs from the subconscious cannot be manipulated in humans.

We can’t make the argument that everything is derivative and also make the argument that these models need specific IPs in order to have a quality output.

I mean... learn to code?

Evidence?

Even if unequivocally true, that still seems consistent with my comment. You’re, at least in principal, describing a temporary problem for these systems. Selection pressure, if nothing else, should cause them to produce more and more desirable outputs over time.

I do wonder if any of these artists would actually feel better about these systems if they were exclusively trained on public domain material.

There is certainly a difference between looking at a piece and duplicating it, changing just enough for it to pass as “new”... and appealing to years of exposure to various pieces of art to produce a “new” piece of art that inevitably (perhaps invariably) draws on many (if not all) of those diverse pieces in a way

Please take a moment and consider that there are probably very few things you can spend your money on that aren’t tainted in a similar way... and that there is absolutely nothing you can do that can even approach harming (or depriving) Rowling on any level. Your purchase, or lack of purchase, is so beneath her concern

I find it incredibly egregious that Ai Arts biggest defenders are in no way professional illustrators/artists themselves- it says everything. Seen so many stories from peers recently that have lost work due to Ai, seen their entire portfolio trained on a Ai etc.
