Are you referring to the cosplay or the actress in the TV show... because, honestly, it seems fair in either case.

They are overwhelmingly likely to recover without any significant complications which will only serve to fuel the wacko narrative that the”C Monster” is a Dem conspiracy crafted to crash the economy and rig the election. It will probably have a net benefit for his campaign.
The thing that is virtually impossible to…
The (political) downside, of course, is that Trump and his wife are overwhelmingly likely to recover (perhaps with absolutely no evident symptoms) which will directly feed the narrative that the C monster is a Dem conspiracy to crash the economy and rig the election.
Virtually anything short of a death (or a protracted…
And fat people are like, “um, excuse me? I’m just trying to live my life and minding my own business? I’d just like to be treated with the same degree of respect as anyone else!” And J.K. Rowling is crying that the fat agenda is oppresing her and she has to fan herself with the billions.
To be clear, I never argued against common usage. I replied to a comment about technical definitions with what I thought was an alternate technical definition. I misread the original comment and so that point didn’t land through a copy-paste of the first definition that came up. I made a mistake, I said as much, and I…
I think you responded to the wrong person.
I agree, for the most part. I was defending the OP.
There is no danger of anyone reasonably (or reactively) presuming by phobic you mean crazy or addled (the sense of the term popularized by countless movies and books in reference to people)... which means it would be overtly inconsistent with my view to bring this point up in the context of a smartphone screen...…
The one meaningful argument I think may offset your point a bit is that human attention is zero-sum... opinions are going to be all over the place on the spectrum of reasonableness and this means there are necessarily going to be many opinions that are beneath the threshold for serious consideration. We may call these…
Rowling shouldn’t be cancelled. She shouldn’t be put in jail. She should be able to voice her thoughts, and we should be able to tell her that she’s extremely wrong. But we do need another voice in the “trans debate”. As long as there are kids put on hormones, who then regret and have to go through lots more hormone…
That has been my experience, as well.
That is a good analogy.
That is about as rational as hinging it on fear, in the context of Rowling, but I take your point in relation to what hdefined2 technically said. There is a miniscule but real difference between the words fear and aversion which expands the scope of the term phobia.
There just seems to be a some cynical rhetorical…
You would.
What I often find from people critical of Rowling, in the context of this thread, what must be called factphobia.

To be fair... characterizing her opinion as “hate speech” has to be some sort of logical fallacy too. This has become a bucket term that does little more than obfuscate actual instances of hate speech... oft applied to any opinion people are too lazy, or evidently unable, to actually engage with in a good faith way.
I…
...or just someone that actually cares about the well being of other people.
I mean... I’m sure you can find a dictionary that supports your position... but a quick google search gives me this as the embedded response... so... yeah... clearly not as cut-and-dry as you want to imagine.
