I wrote Mazda Canada just last weekend and they got back to me and basically said don’t hold your breath because the market demand isn’t there. I told them people are stupid and they sell enough CX-5's to cover it. Unsurprisingly they didn’t respond to that yet.

The new Regal liftback as well - no manual but you can get the N/A V6 and with the seats down I think it has something absurd like 60 cube/ft cargo

My brother still drives it’s kin, the Pontiac Firefly. My mother drove it 9 hours on the Trans Canada from Ontario to Manitoba and somehow lived.

Oh god I thought the Sonata in Tom’s pick was a Ford Fusion, I had to look for the badge to confirm that it wasn’t. Maybe it’s good the blue oval isn’t making cars any more if I can’t tell it apart from a Korean offering.

I feel like the Optima wagon would be the better bet here, especially given how steeply raked that rear hatch is. More upright hatch = more cargo space!

The paint on my Impreza is atrocious, also, the windshield is scratched to shit like it’s made of candy glass.

5Th:

Given what I know about Volvo depreciation on the current V60's, a two-year lease return with ~30,000KM will save at least 10-15K off sticker. It’ll be hard to wait, but I just might.

In Canada you can config a Momentum T6 AWD with the plaid seats. Comes out to a hair over $50K. Might OSD it if I get a healthy raise coming up.

As an advertising student I remember studying old bits like this, the Rolls-Royce “Clock” ad and of course, VW stuff. Golden age of advertising indeed.

At least kudos to Audi for sticking with an embedded screen and not the tombstone dash like MB and BMW

‘12 Impreza:

Meanwhile here in NA I have to brake check every time I see a white Explorer.

I’m going to be a superficial ass and only buy my next car if it’s not grey, silver, black or white. This will be high on my list of non-negotiables.

Ah man that’s hot, the Swedes do not disappoint.

2nd Gear: Tell that to my sad, 137hp Impreza. Thing takes issue with climbing my driveway. Next car I buy must be north of 300, not that i need it, just to overcompensate for the last 5 years.

In Canada, land of the wagon, they are not selling these. Seems like a missed opportunity, but then again, I said the same thing about Buick’s baffling decision to withhold the Regal TourX as well.

Volvo’s Ocean Race trims are super cool and use recycled materials, so it looks like their expanding that to the whole line. I appreciate that there are still brands using cars for positive change. Volvo damn near impresses me in every way.

The Canadian Volvo site has the configuration tool up with pricing. Slightly more expensive than the outgoing but the way the packages are it makes it easier to keep the price down by skipping stuff you don’t want. That said, a 3-year old V60 Polestar just came up near me for sale that’s low on KM’s and low on price.

If you’re worried about looking fancy just get one of those light-up tri-star emblems for the front and replace the C badging with CLA and no one will ever mistake you for being “fancy” or “classy” ever again.
