My standard way of cooking sweet potatoes: poke a couple of holes so it doesn't explode, cover with wet paper towel. Cook for, hmmm... this will vary by microwave power and potato size. First time you do it, try six minutes, check, then a minute more, etc, until it's nice and soft. Perfect is just a short microwave…

Baked potatoes? Olive oil skin stab with a fork a few times, salt and pepper the skin wrap in a damp paper towel and cook for 4 to 8 minutes. Sure beats baking for 40 minutes.
