I always liked Jenny Lawson (the Bloggess) synopsis of the movie: “I rather liked the first half, but the last half was a bit dark. Surprising amount of Nazis for a musical. The first half is all whiskers-on-kittens and spinning on mountains in twirly dresses, and then suddenly? NAZIS. It’s like the first director

You’ve never had brandied fruit made in a mason jar by college students then...lol.

One of my dorm mates and I were personally responsible for a food horror story.  My PA friends were fond of a rock gut concoction called “brandied fruit”, which involved taking canned fruit adding sugar and letting it bubble and ferment.  Well..we screwed on the lid a little too tight and forgot about stirring it one

Jesus on a pogo stick. I never understood the whole pressure to get kids to eat everything on their plate. My youngest was picky and you know what? He’s 22 now and he eats escargot and just about anything on a Indian restaurant menu.  Food battles make no sense to me.

Now playing

The Carson Bowie performance was great, but for ultimate Bowie weirdness, nothing beats the performance on SNL with Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi of TVC15.

We had a cafeteria vendor at work which was really so so, but the one thing they absolutely rocked was a weekly breakfast chilaquiles special. I still miss eating them each Thursday for breakfast. :(

After my Mother in Laws wake, the extended family decided to go to Applebee’s for dinner. My vegan niece and I had a fun time eating a huge hunk of iceberg lettuce, a handful of shredded carrots and some sad tomatoes swimming in dressing. There was nothing else on the menu we could eat.

One of the particular food quirks I inherited from my dad (he passed when I was 5) was eating cold baked beans on toast.  It makes the rest of my siblings pretty much scratch their heads, wondering what DNA strand passed this one on.

My husband concurs with you.  He used to joke it was because he never went to college and developed a taste for it.

And...don’t order fish on Mondays, no matter how much the server says its the best they’ve ever had.  ;)

I am still waiting for the McSpicy Paneer Burger from India to make it stateside.  The hell with the Impossible/Beyond Burger fast food fight; I’d venture back in a Mickey D’s for one of those in a heartbeat.

Try Slice of NY in San Jose or Sunnyvale.  I will hit the San Jose one just for the winning combo of going to Guitar Center and getting Pizza and yes..DRAKE’S CAKES!

California pizza is abomination.  The only good pizza we get out here is when some person comes from either NY or Chicago, and is appalled by the quality and opens a shop.  Which is why Pizza My Heart and even better, Slice of NY will have my business forever in Nor Cal.

What, no love for Cap’n Crunch?

What, no love for Cap’n Crunch?

God yes. I love North Coast. Our favorite beer tour d’force is to start at Russian River, cut across to the coast and stop at Anderson Valley in Boonville and end up at North Coast for dinner and beer. Then the next day, hit Beer Republic on the way home.

Here’s what I love about my local ( and my daughter’s new boyfriend). We went to our local pub when my daughter and her new boyfriend were out to visit. Said BF is pretty much a Coors guy. Instead of bashing his taste in beers, the owner brought him over a few beers to taste based on some questions about what he liked

KEIN MAYONNAISE IM KARTOFFELSALAT!!

So I have to ask Edward Mulhare or Rex Harrison?

We have a full sized skeleton in our house.  He has been named Egon in honor of Dr. Egon Spengler
