It lacks the more haunting fatalism of the original comic, which knew that there’s only one sensible way for this story to end.

The trailers just come across as dull to me.

WE’LL SEE WHAT CARDI B HAS TO SAY ABOUT THIS!

Fair enough. I did see it in the top 10, but I see lots of absolute horse shit in the top 10 for a day or two before it disappears forever, so wasn’t sure if Netflix had specifically called this out as being Very Popular.

despite the fact that, again, it was and is very popular on the platform.

Now playing

just like the McDonald’s hot coffee lady, I initially thought this was a stupid games/stupid prizes scenario

I’m screaming my head off with laughter. That is the loveliest thing I’ve seen in ages.

Astonishingly, AVClub is using the same “We Need To...” headline as the NYTimes for this post?

We were groaning and repeating his Dramatic Line Readings! and Acting Head Tilts! during our watch, but evidently people here really loved it? To me it was like he was mimicking another actor’s bad acting? That said, I think he’s fantastic, and he really works for me literally everything else I’ve seen him in, so I’m e

This probably isn’t the right thread, but—what are Loki’s powers again? They just sort of seemed to be whatever the scene required, including in the final fight with Sylvie where he’s full on telekinetic? I’m lost.

You really think he doesn’t end up having to be a successful trickster in S2?

AVClub in the morning: Gunpowder Milkshake is “a film that practically begs for the pacing and needledrops of an Edgar Wright comedy.”

It’s probably the least hideous of all the submitted designs.

100% agree. I’d personally give it to Coel because that show was brilliant (plus a thousand more glowing adjectives) and more people should watch it, but I think you’re right about Winslet.

I... have very little to complain about. Some really strong recognition this year, and possibly fewer than average eye-roll noms?

The category is insane! I could see Anya Taylor-Joy since QB was the show of the pandemic, and of course she’s really broken out. But Kate’s doing Heavy Accent Work, so it’s a coin toss.

Thirty years later and I can hear Martin’s voice exactly.

I passed IFC a few weeks ago and saw Lizzie Borden’s name on a poster and thought Lizzie Borden directed films?! I can’t wait to watch this. Also I’ve never heard the term raincoat crowd before. That’s fun.

I hope you get a story credit because that is a fab idea.

FP as Skipper is genius.
