I believe the president of the university argued that we all need to learn to hear dissenting opinions and respond to them. But that’s the purpose of a commencement speech. if you want to expose your students to differing opinions, bring her in for a roundtable or debate with the student body.

I’m with you. If I can get my child out, I’m willing to go down fighting. And I was certain skills that would be useful to those who can’t get out, and to me that means I have an obligation to stay and help....but I WILL get my child out.
