I like Genesis a lot (parts of both the Collins and Gabriel eras), and I do appreciate some of Phil’s solo output, but I’ve never gotten the appeal of ‘In The Air Tonight’. I know it has that great drum solo, but other than that, it’s just not a very interesting song.

Yeah, as I understand it, one of the good things about Kyoto Animation is that they do actually push back against the punishing lifestyle that’s common for animators in Japan.

Yeah, I can’t connect with him or his movies at all. He tells all these stories about children, but what does he even know about kids? He never spent any time with his own. (As far as I can tell, the only kids he had time for were the ones he drew in his cartoon movies.)

I’m very interested to learn more about the dynamic between Musk and Shotwell...

If they can’t get Sidney to come back, they could do the next best thing and set the sequel in Australia...

Yeah, the really clever, scary thing that sets Scream apart is, Ghostface is an idea — a literal meme. Anyone might take up his mask and come for you, and even if you finish him off, there can always be more.

Yeah, to anyone in the know, how does this compare to a regular car’s rollover test?

If they even think of dropping Toast of Tinseltown, I’ll come at them like Ray Purchase defending the honor of Mrs Purchase.

‘Shiv’ would also be a reasonably commonplace Indian name.

That’s what I was going to post about. Asimov’s whole thing was that robots are tools — they would naturally be designed with safeguards, but could still malfunction in unusual situations. He thoroughly rejected the Frankenstein complex and ‘robot-as-menace’ trope as an outdated cliche.

Sounds like he was understandably wary after Zardoz.

Can we bring in Whoopi Goldberg and retroactively make this part of the Sister Act cinematic universe?

What is the name of the restaurant? I can’t see it in the article.

It turns out Mambo No. 5 is this universe’s manifestation of the doorbell to the Dark Tower. (Or something. I never finished those books...)

No problem! (It’s amusing that we got here by dumping on Bill Maher, of all things...)

The former lead singer for Big Big Train, David Longdon (RIP), did audition for Genesis after Phil Collins left. Not heard Gong myself.

I received a watch with a Spring Drive as a gift from my parents. The technology is fascinating...
