This occurred to me too. Not at all defending David Cross but it’s not like a Weinstein accusation where the two individuals met once, mediated by other staff etc. It was a decade ago between people who have strong social connections in common, if not an existing relationship themselves.

Because LOOK AT ME I CAN SAY THINGS ON THE INTERNET AND PEOPLE WILL GET RILED UP ABOUT THEM, THEREFORE VALIDATING MY EGO!!!

What prompted Yi’s tweet in the first place? Could she not have, I don’t know, directly contacted David Cross the moment this trauma emerged from her subconscious? Everything always has to be so out there. A man said a shitty thing to a person once upon a time and absolutely owes her a personal apology. Personal:

Or because human memory is imperfect. Especially if alcohol is involved.

That is a stretch.

Yeah, like I understand why people have initial reactions considering the light of Harvey Weinstein and sick fucks like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck coming to light, but so much of these stories coming out are false information growing out of a truthful root. It almost feels like slander (even though I know it is not)

Yeah I’m not gonna say anything about this publicly bc I don’t feel like it’s more relevant than other conversations happening rn but it’s super shitty that media sucks this much and this entire story is.... fake is the wrong word bc he said this stuff, but presented in a willfully or neglectfully bad way to sell a

This is his second apology for this comment, isn’t it? The first came right after the event in question?

Um? he did apologize...six years ago when the joke was made and seemed to have learned from it.

It is an interesting thing, when a guy’s overblown conception/projection of himself meets reality. He did the normal and useful thing. He got the hell away from a situation in which he could help no one and he kept himself safe.  It’s only the fact that he conceived of himself as a kind of roguish anti-PC action movie

My first thought when I heard about the shooting was “country music festival...there must have been more than one good guy with a gun there to protect himself.”

I’m kinda in the same boat, feelings wise.

You know what? I’m perfectly fine with the fact that people who have been convicted of neglect can’t get jobs caring for children and the elderly.

What flavor was the Kool-ade?

She was invited to stand for diversity. Not spew racism. Sucks to suck.

“...saying that she was misquoted and also her words were taken out of context.”

Honestly, this conversation starts to feel like trolling. “ALL white people are racist.” “No we aren’t” “Oh my god, you are horrible for being insulted as an entire race.” I personally think it is a completely ineffective way to have a conversation, if you are trying to have a conversation.

She was fired for HER racism.

Good, fuck her

Celebrities are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If they don’t speak out they are not “using their platform”. If they do speak out, they will definitely make a mistake (because they’re human) and people tell them they are out of touch and to stfu. Suddenly they are cancelled because of how “problematic”
