After reading a lot from ex-and-current porn stars and the reality of what happens, I have completely flipped on my porn acceptance. Knowing that there’s a chance the woman being shown is trafficked, doing something that was explicitly on her “no” list, or on drugs to get through it is not sexy. The huge focus on

A cursory search of pornhub for “interracial”, “incest”, or even “lesbian” will showcase otherwise.

I agree, in male oriented porn, the positions look uncomfortable, the women don’t actually seem aroused, and the jackhammer style sex looks painful, and after all the stories about James Deen forcing actresses into acts that weren’t in their contract, I worry Im watching something that isn’t consensual

Having sex for money is not empowering.

Yup, it’s hard to be turned on by something when you’re unsure of how much agency the woman/women taking part in it really have. The debate on whether porn is empowering or demeaning is a never-ending one, but the recent revelations surrounding rapes in the industry certainly put women off porn even further.

this. i came across a few times of scenes when i could clearly see the fear and/or pain in the woman’s eye. so horrible.

A huge portion of porn is unabashedly misogynistic and often openly racist. It’s those elements that make it harmful.

If you don’t know whether you are watching a filmed rape or not (and so many actresses come forward immediately or years later to say they were raped on camera or had things done to them that they didn’t agree to and couldn’t say no to without losing the entire paycheck from that day) ... is it really ethical?

I was more pissed at their stupid idea in the first place. Newborns are SO FREAKING BORING during the first month. You’re stressed at trying to keep them alive and freaking exhausted more than you’ve ever been in your whole freaking life. And then you want to take away the only outlet you may have to not go completely

Ok, I just listened to what she said and you either really didn’t understand her or you are purposely mischaracterizing what she said. She did not call BLM a terrorist group. She is obviously supportive of what her daughter stood for. She said her daughter wasn’t there as part of any group, which is true. She said

I watched the whole interview and it doesn’t sound like she’s calling Black Lives Matter a terrorist group. She’s quoting what other people were saying about her daughter belonging to “terrorist groups”. She even says she forgets the name of the other one they were talking about.

It’s in this very article in the top video underneath the headline. To me what she said was “They said Heather was part of a terrorist group, [they said] she was a part of Black Lives Matter”. Her mother wasn’t calling BLM a terrorist group by ANY stretch.

I am not used to this kind of argument, and it’s late. I have great respect for you as a thinker and as a commenter. Your level of insight into things is much greater than mine. I understand after it has been explained to me that the person who posted the message to which I responded is a sneaky troll. I accept

I loved Shade Court, but I’m glad Kara is gone, too. She put me in the greys for taking issue with her post-Oscars La La Land post wherein she insisted that no white person should ever write jazz music.

KARA WAS THE WORST. There was no room for discourse or discussion with her. She ridiculed and mocked anything she disagreed with and sometimes went as far as to personally insult commenters. She was a bully in every sense of the word and Jez let her get away with it. I’m so glad she’s gone and looking forward to the

On one side I really empathize with the sheer terror that are the lives of black people in this country...on the other I am also a woman of color. I am a Mexican immigrant who has undocumented relatives some of which crossed the border. My brother was once kidnaped back in Mexico by the organized crime (whose guns and

What’s wrong with not wanting more kids?

But where does the society exist where when barriers are removed from men and women they tend towards the exact same jobs evenly split among themselves? That never existed. It has been demonstrated in some societies that as choices became more free women and men still chose to do different jobs, at an even greater

He makes some reasonable points, and he makes some broken ones... sadly, babies and bathwater are rarely separated these days. He’s clearly a grand wizard...

I definitely agree with you that any white woman, however well-meaning, is capable of saying and doings things that are at best not helpful, and at worst even racist. Elizabeth Cady-Stanton and Susan B. Anthony I think are really great examples of that-both abolitionists, Anthony even participated in the Underground
