Two major changes over the last 10-15 years. The passing game has become much more important, and the schemes on both sides of the ball have gotten much more complex as a result.  It is simply a harder game to quarterback than it used to be.

It means that simply being a hardass really doesn’t really accomplish anything at the NBA level.

I mean, Urban Meyer is an all time top 10-15 coach. To say that his replacement will “probably do just as well” is at best extremely premature, and to base it off “a couple weeks” where he was supposedly in charge is kinda silly.

So a program that has just gotten over the image of being a pretty terrible working environment is hiring a guy that created his own terrible working environment.  At least Maryland is consistent right?

He really was a pretty mediocre coach in Tampa after his first year.  Which of course was 16 years ago.  Remember that he blew up a young team that went 12-4 just two years ago.  You can laugh your ass off all you want, but I doubt it’s going to happen.

You are inaccurately blaming “the NCAA” here. The NCAA doesn’t control FBS football or its post-season. The conferences, in particular the Power 5 conferences do. When you see it in that context, you can see why UCF doesn’t get a chance.  And why the P5 doesn’t really care.

MNF was big in the 70s because there was no Sunday night game. You had one or two games on a Sunday. It was oftentimes the only nationally televised game of the week! It was a big deal because it was unique. It’s really no longer unique.
