Mike McCarthy fired by the Packers last year. Everyone knew he was going to be gone so why not pull the trigger anyway.  There is literally no downside to a mid-season firing.

You fire a coach now so you can start having conversations, with agents and the likes, about replacements. No need to keep him around if you already made the decision.

The Driver, Nelson, Jennings and Jones WR corps with Finley as TE was really good.  Then after Driver left, they picked up Randall Cobb.  That’s not an unimpressive group.  I would agree that outside of Davante Adams, they haven’t had much recently.

Also Jeff Tedford was the offensive coordinator at Oregon for a couple draft busts (Akili Smith and Joey Harrington) that lead people to believe he was more of a system guy.  Drafting Smith wasnt’ really the problem.  It was all the teams after that passed on him, many of whom have chronic quarterback problems Read more

There are plenty of MLB games on television, which is where most people consume sports these days.  Getting rid of 25 minor league teams that draw less than 2,000 isn’t going to have much of an impact on baseball fandom.

I mean the average attendance figures aren’t great.  People are staying home and watching the major league game on television, not going to the minor league park.

Kicking them out of a tournament with only two qualifying matches left and no chance of advancing isn’t going to do anything. Kicking them out of 2022 qualification, or banning their federation’s teams from European competition for a couple of years would be better. Read more

They gave up 21 first half points to the Jets.  After getting steamrolled in the first half last week as well.  I don’t care who they are missing, they look completely unprepared starting the game.
