That is permitted but really only makes sense during protracted red flags, like this one, where there is ample time to tear down and inspect/practice a repair. What else they might do, and what Logano did, is do some work on the car under red and take a timed pit penalty (basically, a number of minutes where the red

No sound, but this gives a decent idea what that kind of speed is like in a boat this size. It’s mind boggling.

Don’t bury the lede here - those are not just any old 6.2L V8 boat engines but four Cadillac CTS-V 6.2L V8 boat engines, superchargers and all.

Does it beep when the spin cycle is done?

...or what about the Audi Q5 with the slanted square (rhombus?) valence over the square nav screen. that one drives me nuts.

I’m going with some of the others on this and saying that it’s meant to mimic the aero profile of the SUV - instead of downforce, that wing really looks like it might create a lot of turbulence. Alternatively to generate a high load on the suspension at speed to mimic the weight of an SUV, though that seems less

Not to mention that Apple’s maps, while potentially bereft of content, are built on the infrastructure they purchased from Saab. But Saab doesn’t have self-driving cars? Right, but they do (did?) have guided missiles loaded with that same tech, so there’s a chance the tech Apple is putting into use in its cars “knows”

I have no doubt that the result is possible with a small enough hole, particularly with how soft the compounds are on these tires (relative to street tires). I'm just saying that I doubt such a precision modification is necessary since the tire is going to wear out in relatively short order and need to be replaced

You see, I'm not so sure that the idea is to end up with some kind of precision hole that self seals below a certain pressure. I think it's just small enough to leak the little bit needed to extend the tire a little bit more than otherwise. Going to too great a length with tires is just not that easy with the way

I want more modern cars with antique Ford radiator-style front ends! That beautiful chrome collar and woven mesh stone guard! Thats a fantastic idea! Oh, and quail hood ornaments!

The slight adjustment in fog light position made me jump up and punch the wall.” This quote is definitely be added to my lexicon - it so succinctly captures what it’s intended to convey...it’s poetry.

correct. I more meant that the teams do not mount their own tires, that when they get them at the hauler they have already been mounted by Goodyear. (Hence the various colored wheels and not all the same.). But yes, I worded that poorly. As another follow up: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/n…

ahh, well there's an idea. I tell you what, though, if it can be done, someone in NASCAR's probably tried it. If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'.

Oooh yeah!

which is provided by goodyear. the tire and wheel are delivered as a unit.

would be far more difficult as the tires are provided by goodyear. brought on a hauler by goodyear, distributed at the track for the various stages (practice, quali, etc), and then returned to goodyear when spent. not saying it's not possible, but you'd have to pull of some serious magic to be able to do that.

what has Jalopnik come to that it's being read in wine bars? /s/

This is one of the first things I've watched in a while that had me smiling the whole way through.

Brother, I'm 32 and I feel the same way. Perhaps less personally so - 17 is an interesting time and you should embrace how deeply you feel for certain things. No matter your age, though, it will always be a shame when something goes away after contributing so crucially and remarkably to the culture you identify
