EARLY art style. Before he went insane.

I dig Stand Alone Complex.... But the 95 movie is where it’s at if we’re honest here. I enjoyed each episode of SAG and found it to be a fun police procedural in a detailed Cyberpunk world. As a sci-fi buff I love it. But you kind of have to be a geek or Anime enthusiast to watch the series. The 95 movie was a pop

Yikes! You are the first person I’ve come across to actually prefer Shirow’s later artwork to his earlier stuff. Each to his own... Art is subjective. But to literally every Shirow enthusiast I’ve known, It’s been his early glory days......and then he lost his mind. Personally I think everything he made somewhere

I’m always down with anime Ghost In The Shell, even though Arise wasn’t that exciting overall.

All these artists.... And no script worthy of their effort.

Only the first GITS movie is what I would consider a significant work of Science Fiction and a genre classic. I personally think it’s great still. Oshii got more than a little decadent on the second one and SAC is a fun police procedural, CSI for Cyberpunkers, but not brilliant or a must see by any means. Same for the

Movies are so expensive to go see first of all, and the idea of seeing something less than stellar as some way of passing time or numbing my brain for 2 hours is not very appealing to me. There’s lots of truly great stuff I haven’t seen or read yet, so there’s much better usage of what little extra time I get each

The live action GITS is very frustrating as it is so emblematic of the Hollywood mechanisms that keep us from getting good genre movies. I don’t know about you, but I can’t simply bring myself into going to the theatre anymore to watch another vanilla Marvel movie or some other vapid CGI apocalypse. At this point I’ve

Ah yes, the “popcorn” defense. “It’s not garbage, it’s popcorn!”

Nah bruw. While Shirow always has lots of cool ideas and super detailed world building in his Mangas, the tone and atmosphere could hardly be called thought provoking. His Section 9 is full of slapstick and colleagues joking around. Goofy Fuchikoma hijinks and what not. Oshii took a neat sci fi comic and made it into

The reviews for Ghost In The Shell are the least surprising criticism I’ve come across in a long time.

Yeah no. He can try and put lipstick on this pig, but it doesn’t change that his ideas hail from the far-right and racist ideologies. Guy is a moron at best. Fuck him.

Yoshi’s Island, it actually makes me tear up. :)

It just shows that Nomura isn’t that great of a designer. A good artist, especially for a fantasy game set in a magical world, should be able to design timeless outfits. Nomura’s infatuation with fashion trends will eventually date his characters.

I’ll second what a lot of people are saying here. Genesis Aladdin did have amazing Disney animations, but it was not a well designed game. Controls where sloppy and I never liked the wide range “jump all over” philosophy of level design that development team sported in this and their other titles, Cool Spot and

Say what you want, the speech he hold just now in Munich was on point.

It’s called “bad drawing” otherwise... Or “poor character design”.

That’s one way to look at it. Another is to force corporations to care about their employees, forming a decent society as they do. The game development world needs unions.

Gotta maximize those profits, eh Activision?
