In all seriousness, the ape sex issue was one of the very best in that book, but I felt like despite it running for a long time (like 12 volumes?) it never went anywhere, it just all kind of meandered.

Having read Powers as well, I disagree. The Old Guard is suffused with a melancholy you can miss if you buzz through it. My favorite bit is the flashback to how Booker ended things with his family. It’s not really an action story so much as a meditation on what it’s worth to live forever. Power, by comparison, has

Lazarus is so, so good. I think in a fair world, it would be as popular and well known as Saga.

Highly recommend the comic. I don’t know that it needs an adaptation, but it is one of my favorite graphic novels of the last few years and a really thoughtful piece on age and violence.

Counterpoint, the bits he contributed to ‘52' are some of the best superhero comics of the last twenty years.

I assume this is to be read in the voice of Doug Marcaida?

Man, I keep seeing ads for this and want to try it, but the fact that it’s based on Ennis and filled to the brim with gore keeps scaring me off.

Yeah, I kept waiting for the twist of the knife and it never came.

Wesleeyyyyyyyyyy

I’m mixed on my answer. It’s a cult hit because in places it’s brilliant. But it’s also frenetic, loud, and occasionally uneven. I’d say watch the first two (which are two of the best) and if it doesn’t grab you, shrug it off.

I’m excited for more but people tend to remember cancelled shows through rose-colored

Yes! They flipped the bitch!

I read that as ‘Pamela Anderson and Hannah Gadsby’ and thought, wow, creative pairing!

It doesn’t help that he was also the smallest name actor in the main cast. Even freaking Ezra Miller had more notoriety. And on top of that, Fisher gave no impression of being especially good or interesting. I could believe that is the fault of the script and direction, but it’s not like we have evidence that he is

I sort of miss that guy that would post on each and every movie review claiming that the film was just Cats with new CGI.

This format of joke will never not be funny.

I think it’s only going to get worse until Covid ends and they get to go outside and remember there’s an outside world again. I expect to be cancelled any day now.

Yeah, the #IStandWithRay hashtag is sort of funny. I might stand with Ray but I’d like to know what he’s accusing Whedon of first.

I mean, he could at least spell ‘Whedon’ correctly...and say something substantive about what he’s referring to...Joss Whedon is on record as a bit of dick but if you’re going to break a news story, include some news.

Yeah, their unique form of stupidity isn’t really unique to any era so I hope this ‘update’ is really just more of the same.

I’ll take more wherever I can get it. Hopefully updating it just means fewer references to metal music. I’d hate to see any attempt made at actually re-working the characters. That said, their half-hearted attempts at political correctness tend to be amazing:
