I love it. It has its issues, but that rooftop fight is the best thing in any turtles film (plus people are weirdly blind to the issues in the original live-action one which I think is inferior to the animated film). I still wish they had made sequels.

Possibly, but that’s not exactly the tone being struck here.

Yeah, I generally prefer Conan for that very reason. He has a wonderful bit you can find on youtube where he sings blues songs with kids. It’s funny, respectful, and silly in a way that seems like he genuinely is having a good time. It also doesn’t make fun of kids or scare them, but just highlights the eccentricity

Those creeps from the egg council got to you...

Aye, I’d embroider this on a pillow if I had one big enough as I agree with it strongly. Personally, I’m about as middle of the road politically as you get (I don’t feel like liberals or conservatives really espouse my values) but it’s sad to see the blind hatred of certain groups be embraced on both sides. I think

Based on what? Honest question, since the kinja-ing I mainly skim and never check who writes what.

I actually agree to a word with that. I try to be generous but I was also trying to point the oddity of signaling virtue in social movements while being willing to make fun of people like this. Point is, I agree.

So you’re saying the more we are asked to notice when people make mistakes, the better we’ll learn, privacy be damned?

What you do in your personal life and what you film and upload to the internet without people’s permission are entirely different things. Also, just because something exists in the entertainment sphere doesn’t always make it ok (see hidden camera prank shows).

Sure, we all laugh at people’s foibles, it’s human nature

Those people submit videos of themselves. Besides which, if AV Club was posting AFV videos, the ridiculousness of it would be slightly more apparent, not less.

Here’s what gets me about the AV Club. They’re all about being kind and understanding and progressive (which is a good thing), but underneath it there’s still this subdermal layer of nastiness with stuff like this. Yes, this person is acting foolishly, but why tape it and share it? And if you’re a successful media

She’s hugely underrated. I think she’s one of those actresses who might have even bigger a career as a comedian if she wasn’t so pretty.

How long before they come for the blackface in Venture Bros Halloween episode...?

That’s one of my big frustrations with this whole issue. People act like education and awareness is the problem. I’ve known about police brutality, sex abuse, and racial inequality as long as I can remember. It’s not like we as a culture don’t know, it’s a question of how we are able to handle it.

Depends on what sort of serious. I always thought scrubs was at its very best when they let the real world emotions around death be present.

Kind of nice viewing this comments section to know I’m not alone in thinking that Brooklyn Nine Nine is really fun but pretty uniformly bad at their ‘socially responsible message’ episodes. Parks and Rec felt like they always managed to handle it more elegantly.

Yeah, their #Metoo episode, while heartfelt and clearly sincere, is one of the worst they’ve ever done. Just feel like an after school special without any jokes (and the show is too goofy to survive as just drama, especially didactic drama).

Luckily I am named for a different Captain Jack.

I think Eric Andre works best as a garnish (Man Seeking Woman) and not a main course (the Eric Andre show).

People may be furious, but I’m clearly not from the tone of my comments. I just disagree with the philosophy that any creator deserves an apology if you didn’t like their work and changed your mind.
