I was kinda thinking the same thing. It’s yet another “let’s all rally around the people having weddings and babies and celebrate them!” which gets very old for people who are happily single and childless.

I’m also thinking about the not so happy single childless, like maybe someone who is struggling very hard to start…

But also. If people do this, they’re letting their company get away with shitty paid leave policies of their company. You need to demand more, not make sacrifices with less.

Not only did I not give up PTO or agree to work time off so parents could go to kid events, I had a note from my doctor saying it was medically necessary for me to have weekends off.

Thank you! while I fully support maternity leave and will lend my support to fixing a broken system, Sheila in accounting isn’t getting my PTO.  She chose to have babies, something I fully respect.  I have chosen to not have babies and go on nice vacations that I save and work hard for.  I’ll buy you a cute onesie…
