TThe example you showed was about pucks in the air. That puck was on the ice. And the paint is not several inches below the ice. So parallax errors are not in play. It was not determined to be a goal, beasue the goal line was obscured by snow.

Your overall point is valid. I do want to however point out that the use of the phrase “under a few inches of ice” is exaggerating the degree to a misleading level. It’s actually just 3/4" of ice not 2 inches. There’s no parallax effect going on otherwise the goalie would always look weird butterflied on the goal line if he were on 2 inches of ice over the stripe
