I agree and disagree with this statement, replayability becomes a factor for me. A game like The Binding of Isaac was phenomenal, technically you can beat it in just a couple of hours if you are lucky and skilled enough, but what makes it in my mind one of the best games of all time is the replayability.

I think the same, games don’t have to be such long experiences. Games could be as long as movie and that would be fine, but because people expect much more nowadays a shorter experience would be used as points against it.

If it makes you feel less overwhelmed, a bunch of those games (like Final Fantasy X and especially Suikoden 2) can easily be finished in well under 100 hours.

I have three Tales games installed on my PC at one time. Then my hard drive went kaput and all my data are wiped out. I am not in the mood to start my hundreds of hours journey again on either of them.

But I started Witcher 3 from the beginning yesterday and absolutely loving it.

I went onto the playstation store to buy suikoden a couple weeks back, only to realize that I purchased it 8 or so years ago. Huh. Guess I'll play that.

I’m 35 and slowly trying to introduce my 8 year old son to “our classics.” Batman TAS definitely still works in this generation. However, Nickelodeon’s Doug was not a hit at my home.

I too am playing Suikoden! I’d say that game really starts getting good around the 4-5hr mark, IIRC. Right now I’m at uhh 18 hrs I think? But I’m nearing the end. Pretty short game! Honestly I wish all JRPGs would clock in under 30 hours, but that’s just my preference...
