Grip the wheel with your fingertips, not your palms. Like every track instructor says to do. (Also helps with cramps if you get them, because it prevents the death grip)

1993 CBR900RR? I had the dark version, but I got it used with big carbs, big cam, Superman gearing, and non-running with all the street parts in a box along with most of the wiring harness. Scariest bike I’ve ever owned, once I got it running, and would power wheelie at any speed. Often accidentally. Gotta love the…
Bike FI still lags behind a good, well adjusted carb in feel. Just like ABS brakes do vs a good set of regular discs. I have a supermoto with a carb and a high quality caliper on it, and everyone who rides it can’t shut up about the feel of both.
Joke’s on you, I’ve actually seen a McLaren with the reindeer treatment. Silicon Valley is a strange place.
I’ve done this! And I almost my pants. I was riding behind a pro superbike racer on a prepped liter bike, and I hate to admit it but I spent more time dragging my knee on the rear seat than I have in the front seat. I probably weigh about 2.5 Alanises (Alanisi?), so we might not have been going as fast as you. That…
I watched a guy “finance” a $5k bike a few years ago by putting it on 5 credit cards, 2 of which were his normal cards that he maxed and 3 being those get them in the grocery store $500 max credit cards, and he didn’t even have them long enough to get his name put on. It was the only time I have ever seen a dealer try…
You know what else is great? When you stop to pee, then come out and find some guy has put his dog in the driver seat of your roadster so he can take a picture of it looking like the dog is driving. Yes, that has happened, and I was not amused.
This is not how all the driving schools work. I’ve only done a couple, though I do a fair amount of regular trackdays in cars and bikes, but I know people who have done most of the well known schools and have friends who are instructors. The type of school you did would probably not be that helpful for people with…
My brother had a tire split while on our ranch, up in the mountains, driving my dad around. They had to climb to the top of a mountain to get cell signal and call me to bring a jack. 3 hours later, I showed up and discovered that his spare tire was also split. I mean split like Pacman, not just punctured ( I keep a…
Left foot brake, build up some torques, then slowly let off the brake. I’ve done it plenty of times. Might also need to cut roots, depending on the tree or shrubbery species. Much easier with a torque converter type automatic, but I worked with a guy that had a big block crate motor in his manual truck and he managed…
Pointless, as Honda has killed vtec, yo.
Riiight. And next they will be making a new Bronco.
I am fine with a 2 seater as an only car, even one that doesn’t have a f/trunk or is caged, but it needs to have a roof. My only functional car for a while had no roof, nor doors, and it stinked even in CA where there is no weather. Cleaning bird dookies off the seats and instruments gets old, as does finding people…
Crackpipe it, so prices go down. I need 4 of them so I can take the turbos to build my individual turbo I4 motor from the other thread.
I did not grow up a germophobe (immigrantt parents), but there are limits. Many moons ago, when I was younger and less hardened to the ways of the world, I met an older woman. She was around 38, had a child, and was a roadie for one of the major sporting leagues. We exchanged numbers and chatted off and on for a…

“The only thing that really stopped me in my tracks thus far was LeBlanc saying “Porsch” instead of “Porsche” once, but hey, I can forgive. It happens.”
I have never taken my niece to the track even though I do take my nephew, but it is because she physically couldn’t handle my old car with the power steering removed. I had her try driving it on the street, and she couldn’t turn the wheel at low speeds. I don’t trust her with the new car, but I don’t trust him with it…
I know several people who have had bad luck with KTMs, especially the Super Duke. Porous mating surfaces, and they won’t fix it under warranty, so they all leak. Supposedly you can fill it with JB Weld but I’ve never actually seen it done. I kind of want a KTM 500 to replace the Husky, but realistically I have no…
Oh, I have. I’d have bought the MGS-01 if it were street legal. I’m planning out a Guzzi chopper build, like the Captain America bike from Easy Rider but with girder front and Italian flag tank, but don’t have room to build it yet. I figure choppers are so horrible to ride, that it wouldn’t matter that it never runs.…
