Given his desire for flash, that might be a better option than, say, an Avalon Hybrid - which otherwise would scratch pretty much the same itch (efficient, reliable, comfortable, roomy). But man, that Avalon just screams ‘55+ community for active seniors’ even more so than the ES.

Lexus ES Hybrid. Over 50 MPG, super roomy interior, amazing seats, excellent reliability and supreme comfort for highway drives. Plus all the luxury bells and whistles.
