There are two expressions in the Dutch language that seem to fit exceptionally well:

Might as well go this route when a lot of modern cars have that “we forgot to account for infotainment so we haphazardly slapped a screen on the top of the dash” look these days.

This is my plan in my Miata. I’m going to pull the screen out, lengthen the wire harnesses, and reroute it to the glove box in the back between the seats. Unfortunately the screen is the only way to access some functions so it has to stay. Then I’ll 3D print a plug to fit in place in the dash (which has been done) but

I think we just need to go back to double-din units so that people can do what they want instead of being locked-in to whatever design the OEM came up with.

Naw, this made me laugh. It’s all good.

Hah, I realized that I should have said “classic” instead of “vintage,” because vintage is specifically for a much older time period, but as I had already posted the QOTD it was too late to change. Sorry!

As someone with kids who are older than the Prowler, I hate you for calling this car “vintage”.

They are. It’ll be released at some point this year or next but when they announced the K4 they showed off a hatchback variant.

That photo is all wrong. It will be a four-door hatchback EV crossover that will be indistinguishable from every other one on the market. See Mustang Mach E.

One of the first things my dad did when teaching me to drive was make me slide and spin the car on snow and learn how to recover and control the car. It did make it easier that in those days pretty much everything was closed on Sundays so there were lots of unplowed parking lots to practice on.

That’s a face only a mother could love.

Ultimately, the Japanese auto market was able to grow and thrive because of the Marshall Plan. It was in our best interest after WWII to open US markets to places like W Germany and Japan (and later S Korea) to contain any threat of future economic retaliation. We also got an ROI in the form of significant investments

On the contrary- I think they DID learn from the Harley Davidson era tariffs. Those tariffs saved Harley and enabled Harley to dominate the whole motorcycle industry for a good 20 years. So American politicians learned the lesson that ‘tariffs work’ and ‘protectionism works’. They don’t care about the fact that HD was

Yep. Just disconnect the OnStar/StarLink/MyStar/Whatever antennae and put terminators on the RF ports. (Might have to convert them to SMA first.)

VW builds its cars for China IN China. There are no tariffs on VWs for the Chinese market. They have partnered with SAIC to build cars there since 1983. That’s the point, VW can’t compete with BYD. It doesn’t matter if the playing field is level, the playing field is the playing field.

Kind of my point.
