They can grow whatever makes them money. Take away the subsidies for field corn and they will either keep growing it with a lower profit margin, grow something different or they will just not, and use less water, and cause less fertilizer pollution to run off into our waterways. Either way I don’t really care, because

Easy solution: payments. Either pay over several months or the whole year, or even prepay based on expected usage, just like those income taxes that are taken out when you don't actually have to give the government that money until April.

Notice that I specifically stated “field corn”, which is not edible and is grown specifically for ethanol production and feed stock for some farm animals. I'm fine with subsidizing food production, to a point.

Regarding registration, as with @Justbrowsing’s comment about screwing with odometers, I believe the percentage of people guilty of this is low enough to not warrant much concern. Regarding insurance, that issue is unrelated and unaffected by my proposal. Either way, people will keep up with their insurance or not.

Fair possibility, but the only easy easy now is to replace the instrument cluster. A lot of cars now have security built in, with modules paired to each other and requiring manufacturer software to replace them. Would likely happen, but less than a single percent of drivers would even Google that idea, I think. Not

It could be an option but, to me, miles are miles and roughly 80% of EV charging is done at home. If you’re going to try to make it fair, then make it fair.

Self-described Liberal Redneck opinion: I’m all for deleting the tax incentives for EV purchases, but ONLY if every single subsidy given to oil companies, field-corn farmers, and anything else related to ICEs is also deleted at the same time. You say taxpayers shouldn’t have to subsidize EV adoption? I say taxpayers

To be fair, the Allies did those same, very specific, things. They just destroyed an objectively evil culture built around one armband and mustache aficionado rather than a peaceful culture that has been the source-code for Christianity and Islam

And that’s why I sold my shares a while back.

Sure, sometimes there are bug fixes.

Making the US be to the world what Oklahoma is to Education.

Pretty difficult to say. There are a few standouts in my mind like Teslas, most German cars, fucking scooters (Hawaii problems...), but I think we’re focusing on the worst people in a group that is steadily getting worse and I think the overall quality of drivers here in the US getting worse is a bigger problem.

Eh, that's fair. I think most people's issue probably stems from the weird insistence that they use navigation in landscape orientation, which is dumb. Personally, landscape have on my phone is frustrating and borderline useless. But if I flip my phone up to portrait mode, it's a night and day difference. I don't

If they had decent quality control for their software they wouldn't need to update it so often.

Hanlon's Razor most definitely applies to Elon.

There’s many reasons I have no plans to try Tesla’s infotainment system. But I’ve come close enough in the back seat of many Ubers. Such a huge tablet that looks like it was hot glued to the dash, wrong orientation, so much wasted space in the interface. It's pretty, I'll give it that, but that's the end of my list of

Because they can use the same app for their entire fleet in perpetuity. And they no longer have to pay for the car's own cell connection to get that sweet sweet metadata.

Most of these new cars have plenty of software issues anyway, so what changes? It would be better if the connection was via bluetooth and the cable was just for power. Would leave open the option for wireless power. Pull out the phone, slap it on the dock, and off you go. I would love that. So long as I could dock the

It’s probably just an app that connects via bluetooth, so as long as the app is maintained, functionality should remain. So, shouldn’t matter if you upgrade or don’t upgrade your phone. In theory, anyway. OEMs can fuck up a wet dream.

Skip the tablet and just go with the phone directly and I’m on board.
