That’s a good way to handle it!
To be clear, the Anova doesn’t chill the water itself. You have to have water that’s already cold, or add ice cubes for this to work. You’re just turning down the thermostat on the Anova so the heating element doesn’t kick on and heat up the water.
Seems to me like this is indicative of a need for different punctuation to set off appositives vs. lists. I think it would be fairly clear if parentheses were used instead of a comma for appositives:
That is good to know. I was thinking about trying them out just because of the Amazon rebate. But sounds like it’s not worth it at all.

Surprised you didn’t include the most basic protection: lock the door.
If the theory is sound, even if it doesn’t work in practice, then I wonder if it would work to heat up a small (3" or 4") cast iron skillet to 500+F, and then place that on top of the ramekin. That ought to provide plenty of long-lasting, even heat about 1/4" above the sugar.
Just tried this. Worked like a charm.
Thank you! I came here to say the same thing. The idea that you should get rid of your fridge before doing any maintenance or small, free tweaks is dumb.
Or maybe it’s just time to turn down the thermostat.
I suppose it depends on the industry, but three, four, or even five rounds of interviews are common in tech. I went through four rounds at Google before they decided it wasn’t a fit. The fifth would have been my last. And yeah, it’s a pain trying to take that much time off of work. Amazon was 4 separate phone…

I love Pocket. It would be great if they made the paid features all free. I first started using it when it was Read It Later. Back then I paid for the premium app, so I was disappointed when they went free, and then later converted to a subscription plan.
These types of questions aren’t about getting the right answer. They’re about your thought process when faced a tough question that has no immediately clear answer: What questions do you ask? What assumptions do you make? What do you take for granted? What don’t you take into consideration that the interviewer wanted…
Depends on how many guns you own :-)
What about good old fashioned DRIPs and DIPs? Those can be purchased directly from some companies and give you direct ownership in their stock.
Lol
I’m going to be nitpicky with your terminology. Bonds are “safer” than stocks, not “safe”. Companies can still default on the debt or go bankrupt leaving you with $0 for your investment, or pennies on the dollar. Treasuries, i.e. Treasury Bonds, are the safest as they’re backed by the “full faith and credit” of the…
Yes, you’re right. It’s $4000, not 5. My bad.
That is certainly your prerogative. My point is simply that we’re not talking about a huge return. To your point, even $0.01 in profit is still profit, but not many folks are going to get very excited about that penny.
