But The Gorilla Thinks Otherwise

I don’t believe every single person who flies a Confederate flag is a racist asshole, but the chances of you being an asshole are increased enormously if you’re flying a Confederate flag. To the point that if you’re one of the few non-racist assholes flying a Confederate flag, you cease to get the benefit of the doubt.

Do you think that every murder should be punished with life in prison without the possibility of parole?

whatever crimes George W. Bush committed, with regard to waging war, are pretty much the same as those committed by the current President

Mr. Howard, you are a goddamn great writer.

Yeah, you can possess a confederate flag without it being racist. But chances are, if you’re flying that confederate flag as opposed to displaying it as a museum piece, you’re an asshole with racist tendencies.

See, this is what’s known as the law of diminishing returns. You should have gone out on a high note on the other story.

This is fantastic and it needs a millions stars.

I’ll cop to presenting a false dichotomy earlier on the drunk/obtuse question.

Sweetie, just because you took a logic class last semester and are currently annoying all your friends in the dorm by pointing out all the logical fallacies they’re making when they fill up their tray at the cafeteria, doesn’t make you any less obtuse.

Are you still drunk, or are you this obtuse sober, too?

There is zero evidence for your position.

The very nature of the “salutes” was intended to give the impression that it was something other than a paid commercial.

The evidence that they wanted it to appear as something other than a paid advertisement is that they presented it and discussed it as something other than a paid advertisement. Are you really this dense, or are you just so committed to this asinine position at this point that you can’t bring yourself to stop?

I wonder if those god damn logic courses should also teach people that one can be a pedantic ass, but one should try not to be a pedantic ass and also wrong at the same time?

The evidence that they did exactly that was on the field dozens and dozens of Sundays.

You cannot reasonably argue that the NFL did not want to give the impression that these were something other than paid commercials, so stop being unreasonable.

What assumption are you talking about? That the NFL wanted to give the impression that these “salutes” were something other than just another paid commercial? That the NFL wants to have the benefits but not the responsibilities of being a quasi-civic organization?

Oh, please. You know very well that the NFL (and the DoD) wanted the impression to be that it was SALUTING THE TROOPS and not just putting on a paid commercial. The NFL wants to be considered a quasi-civic organization (with none of the downsides of that, of course) because it makes it much easier to justify soaking

I believe you’re being a bit obtuse here. No one is criticizing the NFL for not caring about the troops (whatever the fuck that even means (and that isn’t a criticism of you, it’s a criticism of the banality of the phrase)). The NFL is subject to criticism because it is pretending to care about the troops, and selling

The NFL pats itself on the back incessantly for honoring the troops and caring about the military, when it’s just a paid commercial. The NFL “cares” about the troops precisely as much as it “cares” about the 2016 Ford F150.
