Using this against him during the election would require them to admit that wearing blackface is offensive.

Well, considering how many Red States still haven’t taken the Medicaid expansion, it seems some states might care, and while others would not. Also, creating 50 separate systems somewhat defeats the purpose of having a single payer system.

Maybe I’m missing something, but I have explained to sooooo many people that there is a fucking TON of shit that Medicare does not cover. I do not know a single older American who does not at least have a supplemental insurance plan, let alone something else for dental and vision. Unless Medicare for All significantly

I like France’s system, but as far as comparing the US to European and especially Scandinavian countries, I’m well tired of that shit. Why can’t we be more like Norway? You mean a country with a mostly homogeneous population of 5 million that is barely the size of one medium state? Why can’t a country of 365 million

Yes, this. As an American living in Norway, the security I feel from knowing that if I lose my job I will still have insurance is a HUGE relief. HOWEVER, I also love the option I have to PAY for “cushier” insurance should I decide I need it. My (Norwegian) fiancé needed to have his tonsils removed. There was an 8

Also, Nancy Pelosi gets virtually no recognition here for being the one to pass single payer through the House despite all the opposition. The Senate  then axed it, but that’s not her fault.

Yep, fuck them. I’ve had to deal with cancer, luckily in remission, and for profit insurance companies can fuck off and die. I recently had an MRI, a repeat of one from a few years ago that had no issue going through insurance. This time it gets denied saying it needs authorization. I call and talk to someone and they

I feel like the obvious conclusion from these polls is that a significant amount of folks misunderstand a lack of private healthcare as a lack of healthcare, or are skeptical that a government healthcare plan would meet all of their needs. It’s not surprising given that the ACA mostly just offered incredibly bad plans

The ACA brought the opportunity to purchase healthcare to people who didn’t have the opportunity to purchase healthcare before. It’s not free, the coverage is poor, and the subsidies are not sufficient.

It is insane to me people still pretend otherwise.

As someone who advocates for universal health care, I’m resistant as fuck to the assertion that anyone knows what’s best for me but me.

For profit health insurance is an abomination. Maybe there can be a private non-profit health insurance option but probably not. There used to be when Blue Cross and Blue Shield were largely non-profit. They no longer are and it was bad republican tax policy that took that away.

Yeah, I’m not sure what people want here. It’s fine to want public health-care (you should!). It’s quite another to say “I want public healthcare and I want to eliminate almost three million jobs!”  (Coal industry jobs apparently makes up just under 80,000 -- and people went bananas...)

Even European socialist paradises still have private insurance.

I want to become obscenely rich so I can personally fund women’s health clinics in every area that tries to shut them down or limit access. They make new restrictions, fine, I’ll just throw some more money at it and get around it.

Presumably they will also look to make it illegal to cross state lines in order to obtain an abortion.

The State “ranks as the state with the most [medical] challenges for women, infants, and children” but is silent on ex- panding Medicaid. Ryan Sit, Mississippi has the Highest Infant Mortality Rate and is Expected to Pass the Nation’s Strictest Abortion Bill, Newsweek, March 19, 2018. Its leaders are proud to

The Ledger also reports another happy conclusion of Reeves’ decision on Tuesday, which is that a similar ban passed in Louisiana in May will not go into effect, because “the law’s effective date depends on the outcome of the lawsuit challenging Mississippi’s 15-week ban, according to the Center for Reproductive

I agree with you, but the Bible also doesn’t say anything about abortion.

LOVE that the judge put in the opinion that the state’s concern trolling about women’s health was “pure gaslighting.” How wonderful. Thank you Judge Reeves for calling a spade a spade.

The bible is fiction. Get over it.
