I would love to have a foolproof method for applying the new crop of liquid-to-matte lip colors on the market, such as the limecrime velvetines or obsessive compulsive cosmetics' lip tar. Every time I use them, my lips shrivel up and look cakey and dry. I want them to look like this:

Use the powder BEFORE the mascara. I use it on my upper lids and lashes before mascara and it works everytime. I can't guarantee anything though - I'm not a makeup genius or anything.

Hahah. The turkey neck question. My Mom says to press your tongue to the top of your mouth when smiling. This only helps so much. The key is to always be photographed from above while looking up. Basically, I need some help too.

Ok, I've got a couple of questions so bear with me for a moment.

YES OMG YES. Sweet Almond Oil. This is the first winter where my lips have not cracked and peeled off, and I'm so happy. You can find it in the "beauty products" section of Whole Foods, or Choices, or likely any natural/health store. I got a large bottle for $11 or so, and at the rate I am going it will last

I have dry flaky skin on my forehead and around my mouth. I put on (neutrogena water-based) face moisturizer and then two hours later I have dry flaky skin again. What gives? What am I supposed to do? I got new moisturizer because I thought it might be because I had embarrassingly old moisturizer but nope, that was

Contouring: think outside the box and use eyeshadow. With your complexion I wouldn't recommend a bronzer or a contouring palette. If you're very cool or very pale it's tough to find a shade of bronzer or contouring powder that isn't too dark or too warm or too brown for you, but there are thousands of matte brown,

I have never in my life lined my waterline. My eyes won't take it. And also, secret - I don't understand the point. Why is it better than just regular old eyelining? Do I look bad with eyeliner that isn't on my waterline? Crisis.

I have dry, scaly, FLAKY (EW) lips in the winter. I've tried every lip product known to man. I've tried olive oil. Coconut oil is usually my emergency go-to but even that's not working really great lately. I'm also drinking lots of water and am not dehydrated.

If all you want is to even out skin tone w/o too much coverage you could try tinted moisturizer or a bb cream. I really like Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizers.

i used this lil guy:

The crease shading is absolutely possible with a hooded lid. You will have to be willing to experiment both with your technique and your products. Starting the crease blending up a slightly bit higher than your actual crease, with your eyes open and looking forward will help a lot.

i am going to have to work on contouring anyway because i am a fattyface so it's a little more than SUCK IN YER CHEEKS AND WORK WITH WHATS THERE it's more like LOL CHEEKBONE OK LETS FAKE IT. i have seen some good tutorials but the skintone thing has always been the big issue

Supposedly wearing (red) lipstick with no other makeup is the quintessence of Frenchness, I think I've read that in 500 different Conde Nast publications. Allez!

Got two for you!

1. How do you cover up zits that aren't like, little teenaged whitehead pimples? Because I'm almost 30, and I almost always have one single solitary massive cyst going, usually on my chin but recently also between my eyebrows. I've watched a lot of videos but they things they recommend never work at all on blemishes

Have you tried Benefit They're Real? I recently switched to another mascara and forgot how they shed all over and leave blackish hues under my eyes. They're Real doesn't budge and it's the shit.

For that matter, what is the best way to go about finding a replacement for any discontinued shade/product? Are there secret beauty junkie websites I'm not "in the know" about?

I have the same issue. compound this issue with the fact that MY RIGHT EYE LID DROOPS MORE THAN MY LEFT AND GETS EYELINER ALL UP IN THE CREASE SO IN FIFTEEN MINUTES I HAVE A DAMN HALF MOON MESS NO MATTER HOW THIN I MADE THE LINE BECAUSE I AM NOT SYMMETRICAL GODDAMIT.

I will try! My current method is to draw a great left eye and then give myself a pep talk, "looks great, doing great. Who's reflected in that mirror? Is that Alexa Chung? Haha, funny and pretty! Just one little eye to go, You got this".
