Our dietary patterns have changed. Americans today eat 300-400 more calories a day than they did back in the 1970s. We move less, sure, but we also eat more. Dietary choices are far more important to weight gain for the general population than exercise is. People who exercise more tend to eat more anyways- turns out

“Not even close! There can be more than one kind of “ideal” body, just as with every other complicated thing in the world. (Who represents the ideal athlete? What is the ideal car? The ideal painting? etc.)“

Yup. The response here in the comments has been mind boggling. The Lakers were a playoff team last year if they didn’t suffer some of the worst injury luck of any team in the league. I remember reading somewhere that after about 60 games into the season the Lakers had been able to play there starting five for, by far,

“is pretty freakin’ unselfish with the ball.”

Yup. I could not believe the lack of respect Toronto was getting before the series. Literally nobody was giving them a chance, and I thought they were a legit contender. It was insane how many people were acting like it’d be shocking if Golden State needed more than five games to close them out.

What? No. I’m sure he didn’t say “if we have possession of the ball call a timeout that we don’t have”, because that’s the only time you can call a timeout. I’m sure he told them to foul if the shot doesn’t go in, but the ball rolling around on the floor at midcourt while the clock winds down to less than 1 second is

Okay, now do one about how to enjoy a wedding when you’re a terrible dancer and don’t like dancing. There’s always that part of the reception where people finish eating and then everyone but the 85 and older crowd gets up to boogie, leaving me as the only 30-something sitting at a table watching it all go down.

That’s literally what he’s saying. The amount of people that read Kerr’s quote and think he’s claiming that he somehow thought that KD’s Achilles was immune from rupture (either because of the calf injury or for some other reason) is amazing to me. Read it in context and keep in mind that Kerr is an adult human being

Yup. This continues a long tradition of Deadspin deliberately misreading and misinterpreting what people said in order to put the worst possible spin on other people’s actions. It allows them to viciously criticize people all day everyday regardless of how much they deserve it.

Where in any of the quotes in the article are any of the basketball people saying that the medical people claimed there was zero chance of injuring the Achilles? The quote you provided and your hypothetical example of what the doctors might have said are saying the same thing. You’re inserting into that quote an

They weren’t talking about the score. The fact that Canada has outscored teams by as much or more is utterly irrelevant to what they’re saying.

That’s not just you’re reading on it- it’s explicitly what they said. There is no other reasonable reading of what’s happening here. The fact that the top comments are all pointing out that goal differential matters or that Canada has outscored teams by more in the past is just moronic.

Did anyone on here actually listen to what they said? The top comments are all acting like the panel had an issue with the score, when they explicitly did not.

You can come down on either side of what the panels point was (I personally couldn’t really care less about the debate in general- this will all blow over within 24 hours), but your response is a pretty pointless rebuttal to what they actually said. They pointed out that goal differential is a thing, so it wasn’t the

Lol, I love that you decided and explicitly stated that you weren’t bringing him out of the greys. This website’s comment system is like a mini Stanford Prison Experiment. You have some power so you better be sure you use it!

I always interpreted him focusing on it the way he did as signalling how useless and forgotten Nedry’s plans had become. Like, all his greed was causing all this mayhem and death and destruction, and all it ended up resulting in was a can of shaving cream lost under mud and rain. He was highlighting how unimportant it

Does anyone ever deserve slander? If he had done something to deserve to be criticized (like shanking the shot off the side of the backboard) then it wouldn’t be slanderous...

It was just a bad possession that was forced by GSW’s great defense. Once Kawhi got doubled and they started scrambling Toronto should’ve taken a timeout. You didn’t want the ball frantically ending up in Lowry’s hands for a desperation 3 there. I get the whole “let them try to surprise the defense and get a good

Ugh, I hate myself for clicking on that link. I’ve actively avoided increasing Burneko’s click count on any of his articles for months. His writing and analytical skills are hot garbage.

Huh? How does that logic work out? Saying “we brought in as many experts as we could to ensure that we were making a medically sound decision” is now “you’re just doctor searching to get the answer you want”? If it comes out that many of those doctors and experts said he shouldn’t have come back then your comment
