lazy phlebotomists?
Trump fans love his constant grievances and profound emotional immaturity because they see themselves in him.
Yes sometimes when I pay for coffee they thank me profusely and even go so far as to call me “Sir”. So that totally means baristas, and all cashiers really, have the utmost respect and admiration for helping them out by buying stuff. You should see how kind wait staff is to me always checking up me and asking if I…
Geriatric vampires?
Whole house fans are rarely installed any more, but can make a huge difference in summer energy usage. I live in a brick house and wish I had a whole house fan. Even if it drops below 70 at night, the energy stored in the bricks from the sun beating on them all day cooks our house like an oven! Even with window fans…
I live near Chicago and the OP lives in Jersey they can’t be far off. A better comparison would be to compare usage (kWh). My supplier sends me a usage summary each month compared to neighbors so it’s not rocket science, it’s math.
get a smaller house
I’m seconding the need for an energy audit here. I live in the South, where it doesn’t get BELOW 80 most nights and it’s hit 90+ for over 100 days this year already. I live in a two story 2100 sf house, with two HVAC zones, 72 upstairs, 70 downstairs... I’ve yet to hit $200 a month on my electric.
Mine runs around $200 - but my house is very small and I have a (one of two) bedroom closed off and the vents shut. Worth it.
Fully agreed on the air movement. I have central air in my house except for in my bedroom where there is no vent for some godforsaken reason, but at least there’s a ceiling fan, and that keeps me from basically pitching a tent in my backyard all summer.
Something tells me they won’t cover my mortgage when I follow their guideline and get fired because I haven’t slept in two months.
You should get an energy audit. I have a 2000 sf home with the thermostat set at 72 home/78 away, a pool, and 3 ceiling fans running 24/7. My summertime bill is rarely over $300.
Right!? Who can sleep in a hot house?? I crank it down to 68-69 at night!
One important factor not included is humidity and air movement. 80F at 40%RH is very different from 80F at 70%RH. Secondly, a room with no air movement feels much warmer than a room with fan at the same temperature.
82 when you’re sleeping? Good god, I would never sleep.
I don’t give a rat’s ass what anyone thinks is optimal - at night I want it so cold I can hang meat. (70-72)
Saying liberal bias and other somesuch only exposes YOUR bias
Or just fact. As the article I literally linked in this quoted sentence supports with statistical evidence and scientific research, including findings from a federal investigation.
i noticed that too. i think he meant to say “particle physics and Egyptology” or something like that, but the Gizmodo Media Group “editing and proofreading are for suckers” policy strikes again :(
