I know, I know, “in this market” and all that, but just short of 10 large for 125k+ miles on a fucking Neon?

Cool car, good condition, only problem is the price is like 25-30% too high. A clean example of a later car with the bigger V6 and a stick can definitely ask $9200 and easily get it, but the early cars like this aren’t there. Reluctant ND
Agree the price is ok. It’s not a great deal, but not awful. Also, some people (like me) have zero interest in a Model 3, but would pick up a Model S for the right deal.
Let’s see.... Between whatever is going with the door panel gaps, how the A/C would have to converted ($$$), and how the owner couldn’t be bothered to spiff up the interior; my Spidey sense is definitely tingling.
If you don’t have a car or much money this will do. But pretty boring.
That’s a bit steep for fuck-it money to me, but for some reason it strikes me as an appealing project. Like flyingstitch, the headliner somehow hooked me. Perhaps because it would be essentially impossible to get it back to this state if it were torn, filthy, or missing.
I’m going to guess washing the dirt is like peeling the plastic off a new phone. Something the new owner should have the pleasure of doing. If for nothing else but to enjoy the reveal.
This is the kind of car you need to buy directly from the rich old guy who took it to the dealer every 5 or 10K and simply did whatever they asked. This is NOT the kind of car you buy from the kid who wants to customize. He is (and it’s definitely a he) selling this due to money problems. Money problems brought on by…
The seller has three choices at this point:
If that is indeed a paint job and not a wrap, ND.
I took a look at the title of this one and assumed I was going to hate whatever garish decals some joker had thrown on there. I was wrong. I kinda like this design. Heck, I kinda love it. And I kinda want it.
NP for the right person. These are not nearly as affordable as they used to be, and finding one in this condition isn’t an opportunity that comes along very often. Get rid of the feeler antenna, replace the wheels, and this is both a work of art and a testament to some incredibly interesting engineering. These must…
I’m with you. I’d generally ND something of this ilk; Slush box, age, concern with unobtanium parts BUT this car is gorgeous (would def swap wheels which would be key to making it perfect). Irrational, or not, NP, not as an ‘investment’, but as a driver. This is assuming it drove as well as the better 90s Japanese…
Completely irrational and impulsive NP.
A well-sorted 325iX went for $16K on BaT just three months ago. Subtract a few grand for a less desirable powertrain. A few more for rust and a ratty driver’s seat and whatever other warts there are on the interior. So, basically, take that “1" away and you’ve got something. Solid CP.
Hilarious. Were this not a manual wagon it’s 3K car, add 2K for configuration and maybe 5K. Rust, poverty spec, black (painted?) wheels, random wires under dash, “squeaky belts”, oh and 135K miles at least with a broken odometer...for $15.8 GTFOOH. Crackity crack crack
I wouldn’t buy it. But then I consider BMW to be one of the most overrated, overpriced brands on the market.
It’ll wear Montana plates before the check clears. I went NP; seen what a G-Wagon goes for? This will get-er-done better while wheeling around in the mall/restaurant parking lot.
You know what this 944 and yesterday’s Integra have in common? They’re both $5,000 cars. No dice.
For the right price, this could be the base for a patient restoration project. Or you could ignore the cosmetic issues and enjoy the driving experience until something big breaks. This ain’t that price.
