This is the way to go. Find a 25 year old Ford pickup and drive it until the wheels fall off it. Ford trucks run forever. This one would be perfect - https://jalopnik.com/at-6-300-is-this-1998-ford-f-150-xlt-a-good-deal-1849666151

yeah. plus the more you lift, the worse it tows/hauls. leave the beater truck alone.

I agree. Hauling car parts is dirty work, and you don’t want something you spent $60k on getting all scuffed up and covered in grease stains. A used service body truck would be ideal if he plans to go to junkyards and collect parts. Put the tools in the lock boxes along the sides and drop the parts in the bed.

Agree on the use case on all fronts. Upper midwest mountain biker here as well—Twin Cities trails, Cuyuna, and some North Shore rides. I’m lucky that my gf loves camping, but she doesn’t like mountain biking—she prefers trail running. Can’t win em all.

Dad?

Eh, I’m betting a majority of weaponized robots in the US will be deployed by cops against US citizens, rather than some kind of arms race with China.

Love those old Subie lights. The big fog lights of the Outback, Forester, and Impreza (WRX, OBS, and regular) of a couple decades ago are certainly iconic.

My current car, because if I wasn’t really interested in impressing these people when I went to school, why would I care now?

Those were the best-looking Subarus. I was very disappointed when they scrapped the bug-eyes.

This.  The tribalism needs to die, and it can’t happen fast enough.

Look car culture is dying. Which sucks. I’m sick of looking at generic Hatchbacks that have been styled to look like generic SUVs. Let your freak flag fly.

I’m going to say “Vilifying the thing you don’t like.”

OHM...I fail to see the humor there.

You are getting old (like me).

Adaptive cruise has been a major blood pressure reducer for me. I live in an area with a lot of b-roads where passing opportunities are rare, and the speed limit changes every few miles. Getting stuck behind someone who isn’t maintaining a constant speed used to be stressful. Now, I just push the button and chill out.

W123?

It's going to be hilarious as the NIMBYs discover nothing can save their housing prices when everybody thinks your town is a shithole that's impossible to navigate.

Underrated comment. I hate hearing motor vehicles when I’m not doing something motor vehicle related. Even if I’m in the canyons, I’d rather not hear random MOPAR bros — not that they actually drive canyons, mostly the tuner crowd, Porsche guys, and some Corvette and Mustang folks out there with the bikes.

look, can we all just kinda admit that private vehicles suck?

I think it’s safe to say that I-70 is not showing the good side of any state it passes through.
