Right, and I’ve seen Amazon selling Rapha bike jerseys for $25 with matching bibs but those aren’t actually Rapha... Chances are if you bought it on prime day off Amazon, it’s not actually a class 1 ebike.

OK, other than the color, this is awesome. This was the most attractive of the outback/legacy wagons- good size but not too big, reasonably sleek, side rails that work with actual aftermarket racks, not a lot of plastic and the dash was in retrospect, gorgeously simple.  NP.

So, you can be the good guy. Vote for more public transit, walkable suburbs and ways to make driving less of a thing you have to do and more of a thing you can do if you want. Less cars is the actual answer, which seems like it sucks but consider that most of the boring “appliance” cars on the road today would be

Orrrr, and this will sound crazy, but hear me out... maybe the problem isn’t EVs or Fossil fuels, it’s the fact that we’ve built a country where there is no way to get around unless you own a 4,000lb personal transportation unit.

Y’know, you can love cars and want to see less of them.

So our options are, maybe drive less, invest in public transportation and walkable cities, make it so you don’t actually have to own a car to survive, or strip mine the world until it won’t support anything but cars.

If EVs are simpler than ICEs, it stands that they would need less engineers once one has figured out the initial build issues. This is also how businesses work- you let go staff you no longer need. So, you no longer need an entire engine assembly line at the factory, you no longer need all the engineers who were

I feel like investors think that EVs are going to be like CDs- a technology that, once the initial equipment investment was made, was far cheaper to produce than it’s predecessor but whose price never came down because producers realized they could just make more money selling music this way. Which led to impressive

That might be the most punchable face in the history of faces. Like an older Jofrey who didn’t get poisoned.

I mean, nothing with a throttle is considered a class one Ebike. Because of the cost of class one ebikes, you don’t really see a lot of people fucking around with the limiters and stuff like that. The 2s and 3s are legitimately dangerous.

I 100% get where you’re coming from but, for example, adding speed bumps to my street would cause the city to have to finally address the fact that my neighborhood is still chip-seal in some places, that sidewalks and curbs need to be installed and that the sewers, water and gas mains all need to be updated. And

I get why manufacturers are less happy to build hybrids- they’re so much more complicated than an ICE or an EV. You’ve got to have all the bits of an ICE AND all the bits of an EV AND it’s still got to be reasonably priced because for some reason people think that the most complicated cars ever produced should be

But, we don’t make laws based on “well, some assholes are gonna ignore it anyway so why bother.”

There’s always going to be some idiot who drives down my street at 60 miles an hour. But getting everyone else to slow down a little makes a difference in a neighborhood full of kids.

OK, so what you are saing is the reason why a lot of mountainbikers are dead set against ebikes of any kind. Around here, we’ve worked hard to build trails that are motor free, because there are thousands of miles of trails for motorbikes and side by sides but not so much for mountain bikes.

Or, go to Minocqua in Wisconsin. Sure, you’ll have to put up with all the cars and the loud-ass harleys, but you’ll be free to ride your class 2-3 ebike wherever you want.

A class one ebike is only pedal assist- you have to actually pedal to make it go, and there’s usually multiple settings for how much assist you get, but no matter the setting, you still have to pedal and you still have to make some effort.

Class 2 and 3 ebikes are basically mopeds.

Very happy to say my city is actually dropping speed limits. More and more of our neighborhoods are dropping from 25 to 20 mph.

So, I think there’s a misunderstanding built into the term ebike- A class one ebike is a bike with an electric assist. It’s not faster than a regular bike. Think of it as a bike that’s designed to make you feel stronger or go farther without bonking. These are the expensive ebikes. They will assist you up until 20

Sort of. Class one ebikes are actual bikes with electric assist. I didn’t get this until a friend let me ride his.It had 3 power settings.

Literally any marginally competent roofing estimator could have told them that some roofs are more complicated than others.
