You don’t have to label yourself a nerd or geek in order to enjoy and know about things that people who call themselves nerds or geeks like?

Yeah see, it’s not the same. Plus I doubt he was referencing this movie, as great as it was when we were kids, for a football thing.

Starred for the random inclusion of a song. I wish more commenters did this.

I don’t doubt that people who use them legitimately exist. I also don’t doubt that people use torrenting in legitimate ways too, as I have actually done (I am too lazy to upload all my music from my CDs, for instance, to my computer to put them on my various devices, and so I just torrent music that I already legally

Still not seeing the difference. Both torrenting and emulating can be used in both legitimate and illegitimate ways. Yet it’s seen as okay for people to go after torrent sites but not emulators. Most people that play emulators are not playing games they own or have purchased. It’s basically pirating. I mean I’ve never

Though I turned in my nerd card a long time ago, as I’ve never identified as a nerd or geek or whatever, he was clearly going for a kamehameha. Look at the arm motion leading up to it.

You can make the same argument about pirating websites though. How are they supposed to know that you bought the game? For that matter, why are people cool with emulators but not cool with pirating?

I don’t think I’ve seen many things on the internet as cringe worthy as this. And I’m pretty much a communist at this point in terms of how far left I’ve gotten in the recent days.

I believe that’s called retirement.

lol what are you talking about? I don’t have people who actually studied this tell me that. Where are they? I’m simply responding to your comments.

What is exactly how artificial scarcity works? The last paragraph? Because that’s not artificial scarcity.

Seriously, every worthwhile musician since *at least* Sinatra was liked first by teen girls, and men jumped on the bandwagon later.

Man I wish I was there for that I would have died laughing.

This is the inevitable direction of that thing we call esports. Nothing about this surprises me.

The problem is, you’re not accounting for several things, such as the effect of unsold inventory on a company.

I’d be interested in reading that story! And thank you.

But this is literally nothing like the diamond trade. I’m aware of what artificial scarcity is. I myself was an economics major for 2 years (before I switched my major in undergrad). So I know a little about economics. That’s what drives me to say that this is a stupid idea. Because even a very small amount of effort

Oh I’m sure there are. There are also well researched books arguing that the earth is flat.

If you want to buy the product that I made to sell to you, and I cannot sell it to you, how does that not hurt me?

Think about your logic. The wii did not sell for any more because people wanted it but couldn’t buy it. In the case of the wii, the low supply simply meant that people had to wait to buy the product, at the same or lower prices, or buy it from resellers for higher prices. But Nintendo makes no money from the scalpers.
