This Christmas my parents gave me the gift of telling me they think I’m equally at fault in the difficulties I have with the sibling who, when we were growing up, regularly attacked me with weapons and threatened to murder me.

My grandmother had one and - with additional help - it gave her at least ten extra years before she had to move into a nursing home (where she moved at 90). Zero regrets on that choice.

Yeah - my dad’s brother, who is an incredibly healthy eater who worked out had a major, debilitating heart attack in his 40s. My dad, a vegetable hater, sausage enthusiast and (now quit) chain smoker for 45 years, is in his late 60s with no major heart problems. Our health is more random than we like to admit.

It is possible. You have to essentially hold my overweight dad down to make him eat fruits and vegetables (other than potatoes) and his cholesterol levels are really low. Genetics are crazy.
