Mysterious jars? Could they be the Jam of the Ancient Mariner?

I appreciate you.

Ancient Mariner?

Yeah, I think you have to factor in the fact that it was found at the bottom of the sea into any analysis of the sailors’ “navigation skills”.

Yes, this is blatent “great replacement” BS.

Well. I can think of one way to see if they was there on purpose or by accident. Take a good guess at where it probably sailed from. Draw a line to where it sank. Now continue this line. Is there any seaport out there that they could have been trading with? Yes - they were sailing to it. No - they were lost at sea.

Anyone having 12 or more kids is irresponsible, regardless of if they can provide for them or not. There are already way more people alive on this planet than there has ever been in human history - we’re not suffering from any population collapse by any measure.

Yeah, except the jar is racist.

Is this some weird "how many jellybeans in the jar" sort of thing?

This was my thought too. Maybe they were trapped on the wrong side of a storm and tried to run from it.

Couldn’t there have been a storm which drove the ship far from shore and then it sank?

My thoughts exactly. It’s not much of a accomplishment if you go farther out than everybody else if you never return.

I feel like it getting blown out to sea and lost in a storm a way more likely scenario as well.

If only he had stopped to ask for directions two service stations before.

Or had some technical failure that led to loss of control. Entirely possible too. It’s an amazing find and has huge historical value all on its own. Let’s not get too carried away.

This was my first thought “maybe it was just lost” seems like the easier explanation

The find indicates that the ancient sailors had better navigation skills than known.

Still no match for Hulkonychus and Ironmanosaurus.
