And you are obviously not biased? Please.. I still cannot comprehend why people get attacked for not wanting to buy into tech that simply does not yet fit their lifestyle. Yes EVs are great and getting better all the time, but until they can achieve the same level of range and minimal re-fuel time as gasoline…
Not sure about that one..
Not quite...
Depends on what you consider insane.. The old Group B cars had more power, but had enormous amounts of turbo lag, far less advanced tire compounds, suspension designs, safety features, etc. Basically Group B cars were more powerful than the cars of today, but had a risk factor FAR greater than what we have now. In…
And then what? Put myself in danger thanks to the 90% of traffic that is still doing well over the speed limit flying in and out of their lanes to pass my now “safe” car? Of course not.
Who? Prost??
Great pick! I wasn’t sure whether to put that one up or not. Love the old Matras to no end.
0:40s Is easily in the top 5 best recorded upshifts of all time..
I am well aware of the quality of workers in Formula One. However, I fully stand behind my SCCA comment, because anytime a Marshall is placed in the path of an oncoming car at race speed the most basic safety standard of marshaling has not been met. In this case, they were inadequate. Either way the fact remains that…
This right here is exactly why Formula One needs to follow IndyCar’s example and hire a dedicated, professional safety team that follows the series at every stop on the calendar. It is absolutely inexcusable for the world’s premier motorsport organization to lack the standard of communication necessary at your local…
Above GT4 they are really not even close to their production models... I love GT racing, but they are not remotely close to production cars.
Well, you either get speed (purpose built tube-frame race cars), or you get your production based racing. Production based cars at typical race speed would simply not be up to the safety standards required by NASCAR today. It would be cool, but I prefer not having manufacturer spending wars and injured drivers.
Banana for scale?
You mean 1986? Because that’s exactly what happened in 1986. In the 80's, every top series was like group B. Group C was developing 240mph Le Mans monsters, F1 was casually stuffing more than 80psi of boost into their qualifying engines, and NASCAR was running 213mph laps at Daytona and Talladega in flying tube-framed…
This layout would be perfect for something like a ‘Vette. A light car with high levels of torque at low engine speeds is what this box was made for. Suddenly first gear becomes burnout gear, because otherwise you’d never even have to use it.
This deserves more stars.. Oldie but a goodie. LOL
You can’t possibly compare the performance of these engines to those of old on lap times.. The cars are slower because the current regulations tell them to be, not because one era of engine regs. is better/worse than another. Today’s cars are severely lacking downforce compared to 2004 and have narrower slick tires…
Lol, Good call.. Not even worth the trouble at that point.
It better stick with all that junk in the trunk.
