Waiting for your Ted Talk! Thanks.

I’ve never been a fan of the boxer layout, and yes, that includes Porsche. It’s a little frustrating that Toyota went through all this effort finding a partner for the Supra to retain it’s inline 6, yet they couldn’t develop an inline 4 for a car that synonymous with high revving I4 engines?

I’ll up the ante on pedantic Monday.  From an engineering perspective “Heat” refers to the flow of thermal energy.  Heat isn’t energy itself but the flux of it so you shouldn’t say “heat energy”.  Cheers.

Good news! They sell em.

TIL that the engine cover says both TOYOTA and SUBARU.  Not only is that a win for parts commonality, it’s a fundamentally honest way to deal with what this car is.  Kudos to them.

I am genuinely perplexed at the people who ask for AWD to come in the BRZ.

I care. And since this will be my car, I get to decide what an acceptable power-to-weight ratio is. I get to decide what “fun” is.

I think its cool we can still get flat engines in something thats not a 80k porshe. All cars are going to be either electric or 2.0t inline 4s in the near future, so why not put a quirky engine in your sports car.

While these are cool, a new BRZ would smoke even the turbo models around a track.

Higher flow volume doesn’t help as much as you’d think, ditto with increased pressure.

If i wanted instant torque, I’d buy a 5000 pound electric crossover that drives itself.

The previous gen is definitely better looking, but I’d take this gen any day of the week due to the technical improvements.

Yeah, I feel about the same, minus wanting more power. Funny thing is, I feel the GR86 is closer to a modern version of my old 240Z than the upcoming one appears to be.

I’d be a lot more interested if it had the turbo 3 from the GR Yaris.

Why not the 400Z coming up? Sounds like it should be right around there stock. I’m probably getting a GR86 over the Z because I don’t want that much power (or to pay for it).

Yea, and the weird thing is that this isn’t much slower than a 370z now, less than half a second in the 1/4. Such a crazy good deal.

I mean if we’re really going to be pedantic about names, it’s actually a heat exchanger, not a “temp exchange unit” or whatever that is. Heat energy is what gets transferred/exchanged between the mediums, temperature simply describes the average amount of energy in each system at a specific point in time.

Me too. I was looking at used 370Zs and BMW 128i/135i but prices are so idiotic right now. I’d rather spend $30k on a new GR86 than a 10 year old 370z/128i/135i with 100k miles on the odometer.

I’m dangerously close to pulling the trigger on one of these. I don’t need another car.

The same can be said of any “cooler”, even a radiator is just a “temp exchange unit” from coolant to air.
