The tiny taillights make this look like a bad photoshop.

Got ‘eeemmmmm~

That wasn’t Torch.

This is the real Supra, change my mind

or ur mom.

I enjoy weird jalopnik takes. More of these, together with real reviews and deep-dives into car culture. I can read about displacement and horsepower anywhere.

Everything is doable when there is a clearly defined goal and an end. Hang in there!

I feel you. I see photos of myself from just a few years ago and oh goodness the youthful happiness. Where did it all go? I was in my 30s then still too, but damn I feel and look like a haggard zombie in comparison now!

I dunno if I’m projecting, but looking at Mike and you is like looking in two separate mirrors angled back at me. Not sure how the kid or two made their way into that one mirror, but otherwise yeah.

My God. Looking at Mike then and Mike now is like looking in a fucking mirror. And it doesn’t make me feel better about myself at all. 2015 Mike was so young, and chipper, and full of optimism. 2021 Mike looks like he’s been through a pandemic with a kid or two and is just trying to survive. He’s lived through a Trump

No lower end six. You can get M240/6MT/RWD which is the variant I would go for. The B58 looks to be a step up over the N55 in the 235i. Reliability ratings on the F22 chassis are actually surprisingly high, whether this is because it is enthusiast maintained or not I’m not sure.

Look at all that sidewall. YOU LOVE TO SEE IT.

While I defend the turbo cars because I think they are great, I agree the previous generation was probably peak BMW and are much more likely to be future classics than the F21/22. But more for the overall feel than the motors - as wonderful as the N51/N52 are they are nowhere near as powerful or as economical as the

Yes, you could still get a manual in the first-gen M240i. No, that is the only six they sold it with. The new motor in the 240i had a bit more power, and might be a little more reliable in the long run, but the N55 is pretty damned reliable already. I suspect there will be more reliability difference in the fours

Yeah, the previous gen M240i is the newest BMW I have any interest at all in, and I really like the 1-series better than the 2-series, having now owned both. And there are surprising numbers of minty low mileage 135is for less than half the cost of a new M240i. This one on BaT is pretty tempting, I do want a coupe to

Former Boss 302 owner/current GTI owner. Damn, the Boss is insane at pulling. Peak power at redline. That was easily the worst part about the switch to GTI (aside from sound). I added a JB1 soon as possible, which helps the lil’ GTI up top. Still, there’s no substitute for that Road Runner 302.

Having driven both extensively, I prefer the ND1 to the ND2. ND1 engine has a significantly stronger low end, which I bet helps a bunch for autocross. Then again, maybe the higher ND2 redline is more useful there...

Yes, and this here blog actually went there in 2013.

Yes, this. CART was running faster than this in 1998.

I maintain late 90s CART is the best era of racing ever. Those cars were absolute beasts and fast as hell. Not to mention gorgeous. 3-4 chassis manufacturers, two tires suppliers, 3-4 engines suppliers, diverse tracks, and deep talent. Really a golden age.
