Always “Coupe, Sport, Lightweight:” in everything we do. Here let me show you this sedan we did.

Nobody has said it so I’ll chime in... we get the Golf R engine but not the 3rd pedal? What about USP for this dying segment? It could be a fun last hurrah on gasoline sedan-ness.
Having come from the KC MO and surrounding areas. Natural selection doing the world’s work.
I prefer the OEM look for the vehicle so I am unlikely to mess with that stuff.
I’m so very sorry to hear about that. I recently came across a first year for sale and have considered it. I wonder what it would cost to retrofit the later parts to the first year.
Didn’t realize the hydraulic steering. That is incredible.
Did an S2000 actually do that to you? My (mostly limited) experience was love with that car. I’m actually in the market for one.
I have very strong opinions on this one. I won’t share though as my friend is actually considering one of these and he appreciates standing out.
Yeah it was a really good feeling watching all these folks just immediately take roles and solve a problem together. I know it’s unlikely but I like to think they’ve started a community of simple “how can we do simple shit to help each other out” from this experience.
HONESTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope to goodness gracious you are right. I don’t subscribe to the sky is falling theories but I hope they are. I’ve wanted a 964/993 (honestly 997 and almost any 997 or earlier 911 since i was a kid 30 years ago) and I’m finally getting close to affording one. (except they keep climbing)
Counterpoint, monochrome colors dominate the world. Getting another grey car just screams “I’m not a douche, I promise I’m probably not a douche...” Get something fun and be willing to talk to every kid that stops you at the gas station with a million questions.
My idea of douche is probably way off though :-)
Other than the wheels, you nailed the exact car for me. GT Silver over red seats (dark colored dash plz) and 6-speed. A dream for as long as I can remember.
I feel pretty conflicted about it myself. What he’s doing (getting the word out) is probably positive, but he got to where he is today by profiting off of the pollution machine...
Awwwww c’mon!
Heh! Yup I caught that one myself. I keep singing Turbo Lover out of all of them though.
This sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole regarding JP today. It was quite enjoyable actually.
It isn’t Honda’s fault that I’m calling them yawn-inducing now. The market has converged on the 1.4 to 2.5 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. That was awesome and sweet and cool and different before. Now it is somewhat just the standard powerplant.
Yes. That is some of the underrated weirdness of all this. Mitsubishi/Subaru/Honda/Mazda... all kind of yawn-inducing now compared to Toyota/Hyundai (and kinda still Honda).
I’d love to autocross it until I roll it. I imagine it would be as surefooted on R comps as a Fiesta (not-ST) or a Fiat 500.
Great take Raphael! I thought the same thing when Subaru recently muttered that the STI was going away. A shame really as the blue and gold wheels is almost as iconic as the red/white/black Toyota.
