To each their own obviously but I love Funny Games. I think its the best horror movie ever made because of the reasons you cited for not liking it. It makes you question why you like violence in the first place. It has almost no shown violence, instead focusing on the reactions to violence. Its a tough movie to get

Any comedian who uses their platform to mock and demean those who are less fortunate, who struggle and yearn for acceptance for who they...well, there is a special place in hell for them.

You know I’m somewhat of a fake trans person myself.

you’re transphobic in how little you know about trans people, and how little you seem to understand how “jokes” incite transphobic violence and internalized self harm. nice try tho lol.

“A big revelation for me was whenDC lied about his so-called friend, and I believed every word of it”

Fuck, Chappelle was talking about being “cancelled” about three hours after the thing dropped. “Cancelled” was always gonna be part of the marketing.

The brand of progressivism that involves stopping people from doing a thing they like

Chappelle has gone from being a funny transgressive comedian to a sour bastard. Punching down is lazy no matter how you frame it, but Netflix is right to host it, they paid for it and as long as it gets streaming minutes it will stay.

just take it down, listen to trans people, I know you think you aren’t transphobic but you are, and you want to protect your right to be transphobic.

girl this has nothing to do with free speech, Chapelle literally has a massive corporation backing his transphobia.

But!!??

FUCK Ricky Gervais.

I’ll say this: Netflix just walking themselves into mess after mess on this one is actually serving as a helpful example to point to when a lot of trans folks talk about “progressive” seeming companies actually doing jack shit to be as progressive as they claim. The same kind of people who probably sent around all

It super, super sucks. My initial response to hearing about the special was “ah, it’ll have transphobic stuff again, again we’ll be told that we don’t get the joke because we’re sensitive babies, and Dave can sit back in glee - I would really like to sit this discussion out!” but Netflix’s response to all of this is

Chappelle has been a misogynistic POS for years. Glad people are starting to notice the POS part because of the trans hate, but I wish they had noticed how awful he has been toward women way before this.

Im not sure which I found more depressing.  The amount of people defending this special like its George Carlins 7 Dirty Word quality, or the fact Chapelle is without question loving every minute of this.

I don’t have an issue with the mimicry. It’s crazy good. And you have to hustle in this business; I get why Costa did it. Make good shit and put it out into the universe, make things happen, etc etc.

Ewww, plague rats.
